Cross arrives to finish off the Level 4 with the help of Allen and Lenalee.

Impressions:

I thought this episode was pretty good. The first half of this episode was pretty much all about finishing off the Level 4, while the second was them recovering from all that has happened. The fight was very fun to watch. Cross really just kicked ass. I loved the part where the Level 4 repelled the bullet; acting like he was so powerful this couldn’t possibly stop him and Cross just smiled and asked if he only saw one shot. He’s definitely one powerful guy if he can almost effortlessly take down the Level 4, when everyone else struggled so much.

I’m a bit disappointed that it is over with this, with so much more of the story still to come. It seems just as things were getting interesting, just as they added this plot of maybe things not being what they seem, they end it. However, it is understandable since they don’t want to have to do filler episodes, and they are kind of caught up with the manga. I’m not sure if they are planning another season when the manga goes further, but especially if they don’t I’m definitely going to read the manga because I desperately want to know what happens. Things like the Earl keeping the order around, the deal with Allen and the 14th, and so much more still has to be answered.

Final Thoughts:

Wow….what a long experience this has been. This has been the longest series I’ve blogged, and the longest series I’ve ever watched with only seeing one episode per week, and not seeing hundreds throughout a week. It has certainly been a very interesting experience. It’s hard to think that it’s over now. Looking back I remember the first episode about some kid with a gigantic hand fighting huge balloons lead by a fat clown. It certainly turned out different then I thought, way better then I thought. Everything has come a long way. Allen has changed from having a simple giant hand to having a powerful claw, a giant sword that cuts only certain things, and the ability to move almost anywhere with his cloak and mask, plus the ability to play a piano and move a gigantic enemy weapon for his own use. Not to mention the general shifting to a much darker setting and introduction of actual plot instead of just kill this random Akuma for the week. It was way more then I ever expected.

There’s not much else to say about the show. Although I enjoyed it very much, it’s still pretty much just a typical shounen series. There wasn’t much unique about it. For the most part the show kept to a pretty typical shounen pattern. Enemy gets strong, an exorcist gets stronger, then the enemy gets stronger and an exorcist becomes stronger, and so on, a continuous cycle of one side whooping the other side’s ass, then some change and the balance shifts. Still, as long as you don’t expect it to be much else then a shounen show, it was pretty good.

Lenalee fights against the Level 4 with her newly acquired innocence.

Impressions:

Wow… This episode was absolutely incredible Lenalee kicked total ass. Hell, even before that it was awesome, Allen using the Crown Clown to move his body that was so damaged it couldn’t move on its own, Kanda and Lavi helping hold the sword against the attack, all were very cool. However of course Lenalee was awesome once she got her innocence back. She kicked ass, and it looks like she can still go more. She hasn’t even used any really special abilities from their boots, just using them for the mobility now. I loved when the Akuma was firing blasts up at her and she was just jumping off the blasts of energy. Although in the end it seems they haven’t defeated it, as the preview for next episode has them fighting it again. However it was still very cool.

It is a bit of a shame that they’ll be ending the series after the next episode, at least temporarily. However it makes sense that they would do so, as they’ve pretty much caught up to the manga, or gotten close to and if they were to keep going they would easily run out of material and there would be horrible filler episodes that no one wants to see. In the end, it’s for the best but I just hope they come back, as they are just getting to some of the more serious and interesting parts of the plot.

Leverier takes Lenalee to have innocence put in her so they can fight off the Level 4.

Impressions:

This episode was alright, though nothing spectacular. It seemed, for the most part, to just set up for the next episode when Lenalee gets her innocence, and I’m sure kicks total ass with it. There were some more interesting parts though, when they focused a lot of Lenalee having the innocence forced on her, or choosing to have this done and knowing the dangers. There was an overall since of distress involving Lenalee getting the innocence put in her, but nothing was really that focused so they didn’t get as much out of it as they could, but it was still very interesting.

This episode made me more curious in Kanda again. He has some very weird powers that they haven’t really even begun to explain, probably tied in with his tattoos. It seemed in this instance he somehow stopped the big attack fro the Level 4, saving Komui and then all of the injuries he sustained, were healed. That seems like a pretty big ability, though I’m sure it’s somehow limited. I just want some kind of hint as to what’s going on, as the only thing we know so far is he has some weird tattoo, has strange powers, and there’s something to do with a flower.

A level four Akuma emerges and causes complete destruction to all.

Impressions:

Wow….just…wow. I was actually laughing throughout this episode at just how completely and totally screwed everyone is kept laughing thinking, “Wow…they are f’ed” The level four just completely obliterated everyone and everything without even trying. It just flicked its finger and caused Allen to be defeated, then destroyed potential all the Generals with a small punch to the ground. I’m sure Cross is fine because he has Maria, but as for the rest who knows. I can’t even begin to think how they are going to defeat it. I wouldn’t think Cross surviving, and doing something, would really matter that much against an enemy THAT strong.

It seems like the next episode will involve Lenalee in the plans to take out the Level 4. Although, even if she successfully gets the innocence back in her, I don’t see how it’s going to help that much. From what I understand she’ll just be a regular exorcist again, and I doubt that it will be enough for a level four, considering she could barely beat a level 3.

The generals all try and destroy the egg before it goes back into enemy hands when Miranda stops her Time Record.

Impressions:

I thought this was a pretty good episode. I was really wondering how the hell they were going to deal with the egg and the fact time was going to go back to what it was, but destroying it was a pretty smart idea. It was an interesting call to go after the egg the way they did at the end, when Lulubell was holding Miranda like that. Although it’s somewhat of a cold way of thinking, to sacrifice someone to destroy the egg, that seems like it would be the right call, as the egg could mean the deaths of many more people. However finding out that Cross knew Allen was coming and pretty much did it knowing Miranda was going to be safe was kind of nice to know too, as he’s not a complete bastard or anything.

I’m really curious as to what the hell Link is up to. The other inspector told him to do some super secret mission, and I don’t trust these guys at all. He jumped though the ark and was seen walking over to a piece of the broken Akuma egg. I have no idea what he could possible be up to, and ultimately I don’t think he’s evil since he may be taking orders form someone such as the other inspector, they are still with the order.

Allen goes after the Akuma and tries to stop Lulubell from capturing the Akuma egg.

Impressions:

This episode was pretty good. I was a bit surprised the Generals didn’t’ step in until the last half of the episode, as it seemed like they were going to be the focus on this one. It was nice seeing Allen kick ass, but also interesting to see that even though he is extremely powerful, he isn’t invincible. He was having some problems and the whole situation would have been just terrible for Allen and the Order if it weren’t for other people. It was cool when the generals finally appeared, as we hadn’t seen two of them in action. They were certainly interesting to watch. The big guy was pretty insane, which was fun to watch, going all over the Akuma, a very bloodthirsty man. Then even though it’s no surprise that the woman’s power was the monkey, it’s still funny to see that cute little thing turn into a beast and kick the crap out of some Akuma.

Even though there wasn’t really a preview, it seems obvious the next episode will be about Lulubell. Which makes sense, since we never saw her after the time rewind thing. I’m sure she’s wondering what the hell happened to the egg, seeing as how it suddenly went back to headquarters. I’m really curious though what exactly Miranda did, she said rewind and not what she normally does to keep things as they are. With all of her other abilities things return to normal when she deactivates it, so I wonder if the same thing will happen here. In that case, I’m not sure what the good of rewinding was, but it seemed different so hopefully it will actually have an overall effect.

Allen and Bookman fight against the horde of Akuma brought into the headquarters by Lulubell.

Impressions:

This episode was interesting, although ultimately didn’t amount to much. They are still in the same situation and nothing much has changed. Things should get more interesting when the Generals arrive there, but for the most part it seems like they are screwed. If the Earl can just open their ark anywhere that’s nothing really stopping them from invading headquarters again. Plus with their ark opening under the egg, I don’t’ see what’s taking them so long, they should be able to just nab it, meaning the dozens of episodes leading to this point are all for nothing. This series certainly does like to keep the bad guys in control of the situation most of the time.

I’m looking forward to seeing the generals fight. We haven’t really seen anything of the two generals…we haven’t seen. I’m not even sure on their names. The big masked guy just seems like he has a giant two sided sword that he twirls really fast, while the other general definitely seems like her weapon is more interesting. It’s some cute little monkey that transforms into a giant ferocious…monkey. It just seems odd yet at the same time really cool. I want to see that little guy kill all the Akuma.

Allen is followed by Inspector Link so that they can determine any connection he may have to the enemy.

Impressions:

Wow, the ending to this episode certainly surprised the hell out of me. Even though I hadn’t ever seen the guy that Lulubell was disguised as I just figured he was another unseen branch head or something. I didn’t expect for a Noah to infiltrate the headquarters like that, seemingly kill a reoccurring side character, and then open the floodgates to completely utterly screw everyone over. It was awesome. It seemed like from the state things were in that any big action or plot might take a while to develop again from this lull, but this throws things right back into the fray.

Aside from the Lulubell bit at the end where the Akuma invade and everyone becomes totally screwed, this episode was a lot more fluff then I thought. Although that kind of sounds like a joke, I am serious. Aside form the bit at the end they seemed to transition from this huge accusation against Allen which could completely throw everything in the air and make things hectic and kind of made a joke about it with the one guy following Allen around. It was an alright episode, but I wouldn’t really want more of it. Thankfully the end of this episode pointed towards things getting serious so it should be interesting.

Two inspectors from higher up in the order’s hierarchy come to question people about the recent events.

Impressions:

Well, this should lead to something interesting. Although the Nazi inspector guy is definitely not a nice guy by any means, what he was talking about does make sense and he does have a point. If Allen can suddenly control this device that has been only used by the evil people, that should set off something in your head that something’s up. Now obviously Allen isn’t evil but his ties with everything going on, with the Performer and so on is definitely more then that of an average exorcist. It should be interesting to see what becomes of the inspectors pushing more for answers.

I’m curious as to how big of a part the next couple of episodes will focus on Lenalee’s past trauma, as it makes sense that it would be tied to that inspector guy. He seems to be the kind that would put Lenalee in that kind of horrible situation. It could be that it just brings up memories of her past and she talks it over with someone however it could also end up resulting in something else. I kind of get the impression that she may be locked away by the higher ups. If she is indeed The Heart, which they have their suspicions she is, then locking her away where she’s safe and not out on the battlefield would make sense.

Impressions:

I lost the original write up for this so I’ll have to do a quick one from memory. This episode was alright. It was needed that there was some kind of lull after the giant fight sequence they’ve had for a long time. I’m sure things will get really exciting soon, but between the two big tense items it’s fine.
