There is something about this show that is hard to explain. While on the one hand it doesn’t really have a lot of plot to it, there is some comedy that comes from some pretty stupid aspects, and a lot of it doesn’t really lead anywhere, it’s one of the shows I’ve come to really like. It’s odd that something without any real focus on romance or relationships, no real drama amongst the regular characters, and no real over-reaching objective to stop a certain bad guy or anything like that, it still manages to be something I do enjoy watching. The characters are a lot of fun, small things like getting upset at each other over small things or getting embarrassed when one makes a joke was just fun. While they actually did seem to have more plot this season than in the last, dealing with helping get back a sword, and later the sisters, I think the show really shined when they were just doing normal things. It was while they were accomplishing these bigger plots that these smaller things really shone.

Now, that’s not to say the times this show did have bigger focus, like dealing with the three sisters, wasn’t good. In fact I was quite surprised that this show which I pretty much discounted as having any real plot to it did in fact have a plot to it. Now, it’s not like this plot was inherit to the characters or anything like that, it was just another event that happened, just a bigger one that they spent more focus on. I really did find it interesting how they focused on this story throughout the whole series. In doing that they actually developed this event before it happened. Just having the big event reveal itself at the end is alright, but you don’t care about the event as much as when they do it this way, which is why I did find it really interesting to watch.

Overall, I really enjoyed this season of the show. It kept the great same character quirks and squabbles that really made the first one fun, while not being as random as the first season was. That was one of the biggest problems with the first is that the character that showed up and the events that happened seemed so random, it wasn’t quite as interesting as when they had a better flow to it. It kept the good stuff about the first season and improved it, which was surprising. I really liked this second season, more so than the first even. It may not be one of the all time great anime, but it was a lot of fun to watch and I’m looking forward to season three.

This season so far has a lot going for it. As far as the singing sisters’ story, I think it will be pretty interesting. Right now it seems to be the closest thing to a plot that this show has. That was one of the main things that bothered me about the first season. While it was still fun to watch and I liked the show, it seemed like it didn’t really go anywhere. It was just random traveling, randomly with different people, until they had a small skirmish at the end. However here, with this season, they seem to really have some things going. They have these three sisters who have the magic book which we learn is evil. So it seems like there is going to be a story about trying to stoop the book, along the way continually utilizing a new, male character, which is very rare in this EROGE adaption anime….Anyways, there is also the story about the sword. However that seems almost to be there just as an excuse to have Touka as a character and for everyone to have a reason for leaving the village in the first place. It doesn’t seem like something that will end up being that serious. It mainly is the book thing. I’m just curious about the guy mainly.

I do find it very interesting that they have introduced Kada. I always thought it was weird from the first season that this series is originally an ero game visual novel. I have the CGs for it and they would definitely tend to suggest the presence of a guy, which for the most part has been absent from the anime. Kada finally seems like a character that cold maybe fill that role, as he isn’t the evil scumbag guy the last season had for the final couple of episodes. Still, they have already actually parted ways, at least temporarily, so I’m not sure how much they will end up traveling and being together. I think his roe lint he series is definitely not over completely, but without him constantly being with the others I feel he won’t be that much of a character presence, which is too bad.

I thought this episode was a pretty good start to the season. I don’t really have many hopes or delusions of this season being that much different from the first one, but I think as long as you don’t expect it to be something grand its fun enough to watch. What this episode kind of showed, and what the whole series seems to be best at, are the characters. There are some interesting fights but mostly the plot is really basic. The best parts of the show come from just the character interactions and as long as they have plenty of that I don’t’ really care what else the show does as long as it doesn’t impact that part of it. The show seems far more humor then action anyways.

This episode was a good reminder of how damn confusing the name thing was in the first season. The way they used it and the amount it seemed to change confused the hell out of me. Hopefully this episode will help alleviate some of that for this season. I’ll try, from now on, to just use everyone’s given names.
