Victorique’s father makes his move shaking the political landscape and Cordelia makes her move.
Honestly I expected Victorique to be more cautious with that information she was holding onto. She knew it was a trump card and yet didn’t take serious steps to hiding it. Just seemed kind of pointless for her not to pass that information along with the box she gave up if she was just going to lose it later. Not that she wanted to give it up, but I just hoped that she would have a plan for it. Have to give her father credit he really used that information to the best use. A major rival has been removed and he’s got the King at his mercy. Not surprised he’s aligning himself with Germany though I suppose with this alternate timeline I can’t make serious assumptions about Germany.
Kujo is having a seriously bad time there is no question about it. All he managed to do was get used as a threat against Victorique and then get shipped back home anyways. Of course with war looming he’s drafted into the military and is struggling there. He’s not exactly the type to look forward to war or see the glory in it to begin with. If that wasn’t enough Kujo can’t let go of that ring Victorique gave him and his concern for her is going to be a serious distraction. Also that haircut is horrible. If he wasn’t getting beaten up I wouldn’t have thought it was Kujo :D.
Maybe my biggest complaint for this episode was the war to begin with. I could be fine with the country suffering internal strife and maybe a civil war. They played WW1 pretty accurately in terms of the timeline, but just with an extra country. But now they are accelerating WW2 by a decade. A lot of thoughts about the series were affected by the perception that world history wasn’t being played around with too much. Now instead of Kujo having to make a decision of where to stand in 10 years when he’s been with Victorique for a long time he’s doing it right now while he’s still young and hardly having much choice in his actions. They can write the story that they want, but I just don’t like it :).
I feel bad for Cordelia and the Roscoe duo. I mean in the end Victorique and Kujo being happy is the big conclusion, but seems unfortunate. Cordelia had so many terrible things happen to her and now sacrifices her life. Wonder if Cordelia was thinking clearly when putting this plan together. It’s been clear that the Roscoes are at best indifferent and at worst hateful towards Victorique. If she’s not there the end result could be bad. Looks bad, but characters have survived worse. Just think it’d be nice if she could get more than the satisfaction of Victorique being alive. This whole plan had holes in it. Why not just take her daughter and leave the country? Who cares if Albert does some crazy things and gets killed along with Germany in the war? If she could sneak Victorique out of there and change places then she should have been able to escape with her. I can’t blame the Roscoes for being angry. She’s sacrificing her life unnecessarily here. The reason why is understandable, but it’s a shame.
I will say though that Cordelia showed a pretty fantastic fight for this series. Who would have guessed she had ninja fighting skills on top of everything :)?
I’m looking forward to seeing how things will turn out. Kujo is bound to show up again and somehow get out of the military. Grevil will step up as a brother before the end. I can understand his position as being a tough one and having the girl you like being unavailable, but he’s got to do something. Victorique is in danger and has to be saved from an understandably upset Roscoe brother. Hopefully they can handle the ending for this series.
