Clain and Nessa crash, which causes them to find a city with full Fractale support.
Holy crap they shot Clain! I mean seriously, we’re not talking about a minor injury here, but seriously bleeding out. They better have a good doctor up on that airship since Clain is in bad shape. Of course at the same time their pursuers show up so they first have to get away from them and then try to save Clain’s life. I really didn’t expect something this serious to happen to a main character. Sure they had those bystanders shot up, but this is a slightly bit different in terms of scale.
Clain has the luck of a harem lead sometimes. He’s just going around taking pictures and of course ends up where the girl’s are doing laundry. Kind of funny that he even has that much free time considering how hard they were working him before. Maybe his technical skills have earned him some slack from the harder work. Anyways not surprising that he was all over using that camera. Doesn’t seem like he realizes the truth behind who gave it to him, but maybe for now it’s better that way.
This latest adventure has done a good job of getting Clain to think about the Fractale system. He really was a lonely person before meeting Phryne and then Nessa. Sure he had some friends but he only ever interacted with doppels. Seeing a city that was fully supported by Fractale could only remind him about how artificial it all was. The warmth that Nessa has is important for Clain and reminds him of what’s really important.
Let us hope that Clain never finds out the true identity of that female doppel he was interacting with. He’d be pretty messed up I think. Of course it kind of fits since there are so many that play around with gender for online personas. Just kind of creepy for it to happen with doppels as well. Though I think Phryne had a much worse episode in that regard since she was attacked by that jerk. Her reaction when down made me think she’s had some pretty bad experiences at the temple. Maybe she was abused or worse? Nessa pointing out that Phryne doesn’t like hugs also might tie into that. Maybe it’s why she doesn’t see herself as someone worthy to be loved?
Anyways this was a pretty good episode. Nessa’s potential has been shown and now her importance is fully understood. She has a major influence over the Fractale system and destroyed that illusion city in one shot. Maybe she could also help restore the system, but we’ll have to see about that. I can understand the one guy’s point that this system is a place for the disabled and those who can’t be free anywhere else. In the end I think that Fractale should be left for those who are in those serious situations and the rest should try to live more in reality. It’s not that technology shouldn’t be embraced, but there is definitely a limit.
