Otogi Bank attacks Onigashima High School and Ryouko meets someone from her past.
Well I liked that this time we did focus more on Ryouko and Ryoushi. Finally we have the person who was the source of Ryouko’s past trauma. We only got some flashbacks so it’s hard to say exactly what happened. But now I lean more towards the fact that she trusted Hitsujikai and he betrayed her in a painful way. Even after all this time and how hard she has worked it only took seeing him once to freeze her right up. It shows how important Ryoushi is for Ryouko since he can give her the strength to stand strong even against someone like that. I can’t wait for him to get a punch to the face since no doubt he has that coming.
I do have to wonder somewhat at the costume design. Ryoushi actually got a pretty solid one that worked for his sniper image. On the other hand Ryouko’s costume really was a bit odd and I feel for her opponents trying to take her seriously in that. Although the voice upgrades to her Neko-Neko Knuckles was pretty hilarious. The last thing you hear before losing consciousness is a meow.
It was good to see the group in action and even how Tarou can fight pretty well when the time comes. Though apparently it first requires Otohime to “extract his essences” which just reminds you of what a crazy relationship those two have. It was good to see Ryoushi try to stand up and fight even though he couldn’t win. The only reason he knocked the guy out last time was thanks to Ryouko doing serious damage to the guy and setting it up for a finishing blow.
Momoko is one unique character to add to the group. She just has her minions following due to sex appeal. That person is definitely an open character with her interest in Ryouko. Kind of feel for Ryouko since this seems to be the type of person she can’t easily deal with. But loved how Ringo was fine either way talking about their friendship moving into romance if Ryouko decided to go with a same-sex relationship. Though think in part she just said it since it would freak Ryouko out.
I did find the explanation of the system behind the city pretty interesting. It at least adds in some reasoning for how the school functions.
Think the relationship between Ryouko and Ryoushi really took a big step forward. Ryouko is being more honest at least with herself in how important Ryoushi is to her. Besides getting a bit jealous about Momoko paying attention to him was nice. I think as things get more serious he’ll be an important source of strength as someone that will stand by her and that she can really trust. For Ryoushi I think that honest smile at the end was the biggest thing for him. While I like getting background on the other characters there is nothing wrong with focusing on the main couple of the series.
