Lawrence comes up with a plan to try and stop Amati from paying off Horo’s debt.

Impressions:
After the disaster of last episode, Lawrence has managed to find his feet and is at least moving forward. Instead of just falling into a deep depression he is going to fight in the only way he can to keep Horo by his side. Of course if Horo really wants to leave him then a debt is not going to stand in her way. At the same time she can’t just go with Amati either if the debt remains in place. Stopping Amati does have a clear benefit of proving to Horo that she matters to Lawrence. After all if he didn’t care about her then he would just take the money. If he fights for her and wins that opens up a path of conversation and hopefully reconciliation.
In a way you could also agree that Horo is setting up the challenge for Lawrence. The information on Amati along with the marriage certificate could be her way of saying she wants him to fight against Amati. Although Lawrence could look at it in the way that she is saying that it’s over and Amati just about has the money to pay off the debt. I prefer to be a little more optimistic since I want Lawrence and Horo together.
That ‘battle’ between Lawrence and Amati was something to see. Lawrence needed Amati to get into the credit situation so he could pull Amati into the market crash. It’s ironic how credit caused Lawrence so much pain last arc and this time it’s his only hope for salvation. Amati really is a fiery person and took the bait the moment Lawrence started to talk about Horo crying in his arms. Amati is a pretty honest guy about his emotions and is a pretty good merchant. But Lawrence can take advantage of his weakness. Even though Amati has been there longer he is a loner who can’t rely on others to help him. Lawrence is willing to seek out help since he wants to win.
Mark is a pretty great guy. I can understand how his actions are limited. He’d love to help Lawrence out even more than he is. But in the end he has to protect the reputation of his shop since it’s his life. Lawrence can move on after this, but Mark has to stay in that city and continue doing business. Still despite his limitations he is willing to spread the rumour, helped Lawrence figure out that the alchemists would have the pyrite he needed, and finally would look out for people Lawrence could buy from. That’s a good friend to have at your darkest hour. Without Mark this situation might have been hopeless for Lawrence.
Anyways there is now some hope for Lawrence to get through this. He’s putting it all on the line for Horo. Hopefully it works out.

Ughhhhh I’ve been feeling down ever since the end of episode 3… I know its an anime but it’s biting me really hard to see Lawrence and Horo like this. Of course they’ll end up together at the end… It’s just, I hate the situation right now, wish it would just end and have another issue instead of romance problems…those are the most painful to watch in my opinion =(. UGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

I agree with this, but with a slight change. It’s her way of giving Lawrence one last chance. She still loves him, but she can’t deal with it being so one sided. So, if he can pull it through and do this, she’ll take it as a sign that he wants her. However, if he doesn’t, then she’s willing to move on.
God I love this show!
@Karisu
I have to agree with how you put that. It kind of reminds me of the last arc when she tried to get Lawrence to buy those honey peaches. A way for a merchant like Lawrence to show how he feels about her. I think she really wants the answer to the question of what she is to Lawrence. She has to believe Lawrence can win if he puts everything behind the effort.
This is definitely a great show and it’s hard to wait for each episode.
