Fullmetal Alchemist – Brotherhood – 06

Ed and Al return home for repairs, but meet Doctor Marcoh along the way.

Impressions:

I don’t think we can hold out much hope for Marcoh by the end of this episode. He managed to pass the information around, but after what happened to the priest earlier in the series he probably isn’t alive. Yet another alchemist who could not continue his life the same way again after the war. If he was just a doctor it would have been a nightmare, but he was also an alchemist. So there are most likely some things he’d rather forget about the entire thing. Right now Ed and Al are just moving forward trying to restore their bodies. But if its something Marcoh wanted to leave buried they might be left at a moral crossroad. Not to mention Scar is still out there so they are hardly safe heading into Central.

It was quite nice to see Winry again. She really can work well with those brothers. It requires someone rough in order to handle them. Definitely a weird relationship when you remember her serious love of machines and the fact that Ed has an automail arm and leg. It’s not that kind of show, but a relationship between Ed and Winry would be pure entertainment. You can see how much she cares about the brothers with the incredible effort she put in. Multiple all-nighters in order to get the job done quickly isn’t an easy thing to ask of a person. Though perhaps she should have taken a night off since it appears she forgot a part. Oh well it probably wasn’t anything important….Anyways she is a fun character with a lot of energy.

Of course another character with a lot of energy is the Major. He’s a handy guy to have around especially when the brothers are completely helpless. He certainly likes to show off, but again you can tell he is a good guy that cares about Ed and Al. He let Marcoh go as well even though duty would have commanded him to bring the guy in. He probably knows as well as anyone why Marcoh left and why he didn’t want to be a part of things anymore.

This was a nice episode to just get the brothers back home for a while. Clearly they wouldn’t go back unless forced. We are talking about people willing to burn their homes down before leaving. Winry is probably going to stay involved since someone will have to bring that part.
