Haruhi celebrates Tanabata in her own way and forces the others to join her.

I was definitely not prepared for this. Having heard so many things about delays and cancellations, different directors and projects going on involving a sequel season to Haruhi I just stopped really following it that closely and figured when it was all resolved I would just watch it. I didn’t think that the day would be today. However, BOOM there it is.
Rant:
Before getting into the actual episode I do want to address just the series in general. I absolutely loved the first season. However I don’t know what is seriously wrong with people that they would bash a series so much as some people did for the first season. It wasn’t justified bashing but the kind that inevitably comes within a large portion of people like something, there has to be those who say its crap just to be different and to get attention. I just honestly don’t give a crap. I still have fond memories of just simply watching the first series and that’s all I really care about. I liked the series; I had fun when watching it. It made me laugh and think at times and I cared for the characters. That’s all that fucking matters people, stop being so fucking retarded that you think you are too good to watch something or will bash something and deny its existence simply to be different and grow the fuck up and learn no one really gives a shit about you and your opinions so shut up and enjoy something for a change in your miserable life.
Ahem. That may have been a tad harsh, but that wasn’t just directed at this series but everything that is bashed as “horrible” just because of hype and popularity. I don’t care about hype, or popularity but the actual show itself. I know, its shocking someone would take the show into account when judging the show itself, but I do. Anyways no matter what the new season brings or anything that comes along with it the first 14 episodes of Haruhi were great and one of my favorite anime, and it will continue to be so.
Impressions:
This is honestly not an exaggeration. I had the biggest smile my mouth was physically capable of giving on my face throughout every second of the episode. I’m not kidding or exaggerating, I loved it that much. I thought they did a great job of keeping the characters as I remembered them. They had small humorous moments and the chemistry between he characters was the same. While at the same time what really impressed me was they didn’t just have some random event happen. It wasn’t an isolated episode where the brigade gets into some kind of trouble or something and then finds a way out of it, or anything like that. It was the beginning of some actual plot that deeply involves the characters.
I think the time traveling plot will be very interesting. Haruhi, whilst being very funny and full of interesting characters has always had this extreme complexity to it dealing with Haruhi’s power, the way esper powers work, the way time traveling happens, and Yuki’s whole data thing. There has been a lot of it but most of the time they explained it or it didn’t really effect things too much, however I think that following what they say in this new plot arc will be very important. Time traveling can make anything complicated and while that will inevitably happen here it also will make it very interesting. There are so many things they can do with it. Kyon influencing Haruhi, learning more back-story to a character. Plus, it really did seem like Haruhi was being serious and deep a lot in just the first episode of this new arc. She obviously strongly believes in Tanabata, and the day, perhaps because of Kyon, has special memories for her. I’m really really interested in finding out how the rest of the plot develops. Don’t’ spoil it if you’ve read the books, I don’t want to know like that. I just am really interested and hooked into the show already from the story potential.
IMPORTANT!
I did think of something completely irrelevant, but I’ll mention it anyways. Past Yuki wore glasses. When she downloaded her information from Present/Future Yuki she took them off, as she no longer wore them. Now, when the spell was put on Kyon and Mikuru, did she re-apply her need to wear glasses or did time ge3t changed so that when Kyon first meets her again she never wears glasses as long as he knows her. Either that or she un-downloaded/synched with herself which effectively re-applies the need for glasses. Something to think about…

Totally have to second your rant. What irks me are the people that are suddenly bashing the show not because of its popularity, but because of the delays and whatnot. It seems so freaking ridiculous, but oh well. Doesn’t hinder my love for the series in any way. And this episode was simply amazing. I can’t wait for the rest of the new episodes, whenever they come along.
“This is honestly not an exaggeration. I had the biggest smile my mouth was physically capable of giving on my face throughout every second of the episode.”
-You’re not alone there. God I never realized how much I missed this show until it returned.
Yeah, what happens in this arc is central to the rest of the new episodes. S2 doesn’t make much sense unless you know what happened in Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody.
“Past Yuki wore glasses. When she downloaded her information from Present/Future Yuki she took them off, as she no longer wore them.”
Since I worship Yuki, I like to think that she took off her glasses because after syncing up with her future self, she knows that Kyon prefers her without glasses. Of course, she returns to wearing glasses because, well, because she wore glasses. How can Kyon tell her she doesn’t need glasses unless she wears glasses at the start of high school?
Completely agree with your rant.
Popularity doesn’t make an anime good, it just makes people know about the show and will make them watch it, which is a good thing.
After all, Haruhi became popular because it’s an amazing anime.
All the delays and stuff don’t change the fact that Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu is an amazing anime.
So yea, why hate the anime because of something not related to it at all..
Anyway, the episode was awesome!
Words alone can’t describe how great it was to see Haruhi again ^_^
How much I missed the anime after watching the episode..

Emergency-Mode. She should not continue synchronization. Return to Stand-by Mode.
