The group returns to Baticul and attempt to end the war.

Impressions:

Well has felt like a while since I saw an episode from this series, but it seems like plans are coming together for this group. Now they have an idea of what they need to do. It seems like there is no other way than to lower the Outer Lands instead of letting them plummet like Van has in mind. Besides it does appear like they have an idea to deal with the liquefying problem and with the nations working together maybe the miasma can be dealt with. Certainly it’s not the most positive situation but a whole lot better than the alternative which would be large scale annihilation.

I hope Natalia’s father realizes what a jerk he has been. The guy goes around ordering his own child’s execution and lets his strings get pulled by Mohs. He certainly reflects some of the worst that can come from blindly following the score. King was completely focused on that promised prosperity that he didn’t look around him. He was putting his country into a war when lands are falling left and right. Then he goes and denies any bond with his daughter and nearly has her killed off. Has a lot to do before he can make up for the foolish actions he has taken. Still it was nice for Natalia that he finally got his head on straight and accepted her. Blood doesn’t mean everything and certainly doesn’t define your relationship to someone else. Had to be a terrible thing for Natalia to feel rejected by a parent like that. But certainly proved she is a princess at heart and still managed to do what was right for her kingdom.

Give some props to Asch as well for showing up in time to give some encouragement. No doubt he’s been keeping a close eye on what the group has been doing and knew Natalia would need someone to talk to. Pulled out the big guns in using the words she had been waiting to hear for years now. Someone actually remembering the promise that they had made and reminding her that so many are behind her. The people of Kimlasca and those who care about her will accept her no matter what blood is running through her veins. Makes you hope for those two since they have been through so much. But at the same time Asch still has to overcome his own demons. Losing so much has really made it difficult for him to move forward. And right now the fate of many lives is at stake.

That stunt by Guy was pretty reckless. Now I’m sure he wasn’t going to go and kill Natalia’s father. He’s not such a heartless person that he would take away someone’s family, especially when it’s the family of someone he cares about. Yet I don’t expect Jade to just shrug off the event. After all Guy let Van walk away when they could have ended this whole affair right then and followed that up with threats against the royal families right after a peace treaty was signed. In the end there were many responsible for Hod and he’d have to kill most in the room to get revenge. Van may have it figured out in that respect since killing everyone in the Outer Lands would result in getting revenge against those responsible. From Ion who represents the score which told Kimlasca to act to Jade who created fomicry in the first place. He now has the truth but it doesn’t change the lives that were lost in Hod.

Seems we’re in for some fighting next week. Honestly it should be expected since the group is taking steps to interfere with Van’s revenge. There was no way he was going to sit around and wait for them to stop the fall of the Outer Lands. Still plenty of power on the God Generals side so it won’t be easy to win.
