A thought that quickly came to mind was considering he was part of so many deaths a dagger to finish him off might not be unwarranted. Though you can also see Tear giving Luke a dagger in the preview and that will play a part of him stepping forward. The role of said dagger can't really be explained in great detail without giving away what should be a fairly important part of the next episode. @Azuka
