Rui gets sent back in time by a mysterious box that he and Ran find at a flea market.
Impressions:
This episode was great. Although this show seems to kind of disappoint me with some of its episodes and the mysteries turning out to be some simple Scooby-doo like problem, this one is different enough from the others that I have hope it’ll be more interesting. For starters it stars Rui, and so far Ran and Midori have hardly done anything. It does seem to have only a little supernatural aspects to the actual problem though, and I do tend to want more supernatural focus form this show, so that may not really be solved much. Sure he got sent back in time, and that’s pretty big, but as far as what Rui actually helps with, I suspect to some level it will just come down to that guy in charge being a bad guy.
I really hope they take this opportunity and advance the whole issue of Rui having powers. It seems like this is as goo as any time to do it, since he was able to see the woman and no one else, and he opened the box and was pretty much chosen. However that could be explained without Rui having any powers, if he was chosen then that cold all happen. If a random person was chosen the same thing might occur. Still, I do have some hope, but since his powers aren’t the same as Ran and Midori, I’m not sure how well we can actually see him affect things, its still unclear what his rarely seen powers are.

I’m really hoping they use this to develop Rui. We know he has some kind of powers that haven’t been looked at much at all. Some reason the author seems to have forgotten they gave him those powers. Being chosen for this doesn’t necessarily mean they will delve into that. But seeing something the other girls couldn’t might mean they will finally give some credit there. Other than being able to piece things together well, not a bad idea to look into what he can do.
The overall problem may again have little to do with the supernatural. Just getting Rui to the past in order to solve it would require some powers. The main problems could just have to do with that evil looking guy. One problem with the series is making the bad guys look too obvious. Anyways will hope for the best in regards to this arc.
Wonder if Rui will get in trouble getting close to what is probably Ran’s ancestor. Can’t imagine the powers and appearance come from someone completely unrelated.
