D. Gray-Man – 98

Allen goes after the Akuma and tries to stop Lulubell from capturing the Akuma egg.

Impressions:

This episode was pretty good. I was a bit surprised the Generals didn’t’ step in until the last half of the episode, as it seemed like they were going to be the focus on this one. It was nice seeing Allen kick ass, but also interesting to see that even though he is extremely powerful, he isn’t invincible. He was having some problems and the whole situation would have been just terrible for Allen and the Order if it weren’t for other people. It was cool when the generals finally appeared, as we hadn’t seen two of them in action. They were certainly interesting to watch. The big guy was pretty insane, which was fun to watch, going all over the Akuma, a very bloodthirsty man. Then even though it’s no surprise that the woman’s power was the monkey, it’s still funny to see that cute little thing turn into a beast and kick the crap out of some Akuma.

Even though there wasn’t really a preview, it seems obvious the next episode will be about Lulubell. Which makes sense, since we never saw her after the time rewind thing. I’m sure she’s wondering what the hell happened to the egg, seeing as how it suddenly went back to headquarters. I’m really curious though what exactly Miranda did, she said rewind and not what she normally does to keep things as they are. With all of her other abilities things return to normal when she deactivates it, so I wonder if the same thing will happen here. In that case, I’m not sure what the good of rewinding was, but it seemed different so hopefully it will actually have an overall effect.

Was a bit of a surprise that the generals only appeared at the end. But they owned the akuma so quickly that I guess it wouldn’t matter much when they showed up. Was pretty good showing Allen not being invincible here. He was going to get killed/captured if the Generals hadn’t showed up when they did. Also shows his personality hasn’t changed too much and he can lose his focus. Every time he was locked in to save someone it allowed him to get into greater trouble. Lulubell eventually taking advantage of it and knocking him out.

Seems Miranda turned back the time for the egg. Like with injuries except this time it was based on position. Obviously they are kind of stuck in this spot. Miranda can’t keep the egg like that forever and the Earl’s gate being kept open as a result is pretty bad. Probably like with the wounds when she deactivates it will just go right back through the gate.

General Winters is just freaking insane. Really found his calling here. Gets to slaughter akuma without any consequence. I’d kind of be afraid for any exorcists that guy discovered….Still knows where to point his attacks so not a bad guy over all.

Was something to see Cloud and Cross just kind of stand back while all the damage was being done. Cross just casually shooting and Cloud sending her monkey to beat the crap out of the akuma. If Tiedoll took part in attacking then it would have been over even faster.
