Kotoko and Irie go on their honeymoon together, but aren’t able to spend much time alone.

Impressions:

I thought this episode was great. I was actually surprised they managed to balance so well showing Naoki being distant with Kotoko while at the same time not making him back into some jerk. It’ll remain part of his character that he’s a bit distant, but at least now it’s expressed more as him not being such a bad person. I thought they did a great job mixing comedy about Kotoko being jealous and not getting enough time with him with having some meaningful development about Naoki’s feelings.

I am curious if there will be more problems based on Naoki not showing his feelings very well or Kotoko not being confident that he is returning her feelings, or if they’ll kind of change that and instead focus on just general issues that may face them as a married couple. It seems like both could happen, because even though this episode didn’t show a lot of character growth on Naoki’s behalf near the end, where he actually showed Kotoko more of his feelings, there could still be more content to pull from that. He’s still not the most openly affectionate person even after all that. They also have Kotoko’s nursing career they can focus on too though. I’m not worried about whether or not they’ll have something to focus on, just which one they’ll pick for the majority of the show.
