Zero no Tsukaima ~Princess no Rondo~ - 01

Louise and Saito are surprised when suddenly Saito’s familiar runes disappear, meaning he is no longer Louie’s familiar.

Impressions:

Well, seeing as how I loved the previous seasons of this show, it’s almost a given that I’ll automatically love this new season, and I do. However fanboy’ism aside, I thought the plot they established already in the first episode was great. They didn’t waste anytime getting into things. They had a fight, big plot events and conflicts, and romance development. I was really surprised with how fast they came out of the gate so to speak with all this, but am very glad for it.

I thought the amount of romance focus they had was great. For them to show that much in the first episode really gives me hopes for even more, and longer lasting, focus later on in the series. Of course I pretty much guessed that what happened was going to happen. They had this amazing emotional scene that gave great character development and romance progression, and then because Louise is so tsundere and because Saito jokes around a bit too much, the entire event is almost negated and it’s as if it never happened. I just hope they have some more romance moments that show them being close but don’t take it all back right away. It’s a hard thing to imagine for this show, since it has that kind of comedy focus, but it would be nice to see a little of it. I at least hope for romance development that isn’t undone by that kind of thing near the end of the season.

I just get tired of Louise taking everything back every time. Every time they have a romantic moment she becomes 4 times as abusive right after. I thought she would mature a little with the abuse this season, but I guess not. It’s too predictable.

Yeah, the abuse is getting old. I thought it would at least subside when Saito wasn’t actually Louise’s familiar, but no. She makes him run after the carriage when they’re going god knows how far. He should’ve just sat down and refused, she woulda stopped the carriage.

Well after finding out about the radical changes from the novel has been a bit tougher to get back into this. Though I wasn’t as hooked into the second season before I found out so shouldn’t be the entire reason.

But have tried to give it a chance and since I followed the first two seasons can’t really quit on it now. Though find it odd how his runes would vanish now. I mean if its connected to his heart stopping or something wouldn’t they have vanished before he even made it back to Louise? Would think the magic is good enough to not just fade over that much time. Still gets us into an interesting situation with him not being officially tied to Louise. Though of course he’ll be with her eventually.

Not sure if they will ever tone down the abuse on Saito. But guess he’s in love enough that things like that while not fun aren’t enough for him to do something.
