Altoh and Ranka investigate the wreckage of one of the first generation Macross.

Impressions:

Wow….this episode was absolutely incredible. This had more plot development then almost any other episode in the series. Not even taking into account any romance aspects, which the show is very heavily based on, this episode was still huge. IT didn’t just reveal something and leave us guessing either, it left with a cliffhanger and with the situation being in trouble. Ranka is still kidnapped, Sheryl and Michael are fold jumping with the mothership of the evil creatures that cause total destruction, Altoh is effectively stranded in space, and Grace has initiated something in some big evil plan. That’s certainly more then any other episode has done so far. I’m continuously surprised at how awesome this series is.

One of the more interesting aspects to the plot that they’ve shown is that there is some kind of conspiracy going on with the Macross being there. It was supposed to have been destroyed a while ago, but it was mostly intact on a planet. That right there sets off a flag that something’s not right. Not to mention that they seemed to be doing experiments on the Vajra aboard the Macross. I’m also really interested in Ranka’s past now, as it seems to have a lot more to do with the overall plot then just her own character development. She was seen in a picture aboard Macross with someone, who could be her brother perhaps. I would guess that maybe the cyborg guy, if he has any human aspect to him, may be related to Ranka, seeing as how he seemed to have a connection to the song she was singing, which Ranka seemed to get from their mother or something.
