Kei hires Hikari to accompany him to a large and extravagant birthday party for someone.

Impressions:

I loved this episode. It had a huge amount of rather heavy and serious romance focus. Hikari pretty much found out that Kei loves her, which is a big step in the show considering the premise before was that it was secret. Now that she knows there will probably be a lot of different moments that reflect it. While they probably won’t end up being that serious and amount to much, it’ll be interesting because it could lead to something else down the road. In the big picture it isn’t much but consider the shows very light romance focus up until now, it was pretty big. It does bother me a bit though that Hikari doesn’t seem to take it seriously that Kei loves her. She seemed to be absolutely shocked and almost appalled at the idea of romance between the two of them, which bothered me because that can’t be the case if there is to be serious romance in this show.

I am curious as to what kind of focus Yahiro will get. He seemed like an interesting character with some more stuff to offer. Considering his connection to Kei and Akira, it seems like he has some interesting potential. I’m really curious as to what kind of connection to Akira he will end up having. Although throughout most of the episode he didn’t’ seem to be very serious about anything, at the end he definitely had a different look and feel about him, then he asked about Akira. Perhaps they have more of a connection then just childhood friends. This would also lend to Akira getting some more focus, as the side characters in general haven’t gotten much focus.
