Jil is fired from Neeba’s group after his inadequate performance on their last campaign, but runs into some other people who have the same goals as him.
Impressions:
It definitely looks like this show is going the serious route. I pretty much suspected that though from the very end of the first episode and then the preview. I doubt we will have other episodes like the first, but it’s alright. Even though it seems like it will be serious I still find it pretty interesting so far. It’s like watching an RPG game almost. I am interested in how they are handling the two parties with Jil and Neeba. It seems like there will be two groups of people, at least right away. It doesn’t seem as if they will all start out as one big group and I think it will be more interesting to have two of them. It seems like Jil’s group will get a loli in it who is introduced next episode, so of course I’ll be more interested in that group.
As far as romance goes, because if you’ve ever read a post of mine you’ll know how much I want romance in every show, I look forward to seeing something advance between Jil and magic girl. From the OP it definitely seems like they will be together. Even if the OP seems to be a weird mix between this fantasy world and a school show, it still shows them together which gives me hope. Fatina will probably end up with Neeba then, as there hasn’t been any love interest between Fatina and Jil shown and I think it will be more interesting if they stay way from the love triangle situation and just go with Jil and magic girl and Fatina and Neeba.

Really does feel like your watching an RPG or something. Can almost see some stats. Jil put no points in intelligence it seems :). Great delay time in his injuries springing up. I expected it to be delayed but after that long assumed he just had a hard head.
Does seem like they will go with two teams. Maybe the young group that has to work up towards Neeba and his team. Eventually eclipsing his brother and making it to the top of the tower. Don’t know if they will get together at some point down the road but should be interesting.
Was almost expecting Fatina and Jil, but things really went in a different direction. Kaaya is a pretty odd oracle, but that’s alright. Jil isn’t the most ordinary guy himself so could work out fine as a pair. I don’t mind not getting into a love triangle as well. If it focuses on those two getting closer along the way its fine.
This show may have an OP that is the furthest away from what the series is actually about that I’ve ever seen.
