Hikari continually competes with her childhood rival Kei but continually comes in second.
Impressions:
This episode was great. Since I’m a huge romance fan I was looking forward to this show, as it was one of the “romance” shows this season that isn’t ecchi. I’m really looking forward to more from this show. The animation was a bit weird, but I wouldn’t say its bad or anything. It seemed more like it was just that style, with the long arms and legs. It won’t really get in the way of the show, but just something I thought I would point out. It is rather remnant of shoujo style, which would hopefully point to heavier romance focus then other genres.
I do really hope that some more serious romance kicks in relatively early in the show. Not that what they have now or the level they showed in the first episode is bad. Hell, its leaps and bounds above other shows but this series has such great potential for good romance that I hope they don’t waste too much time getting to a point where someone confesses and they start going out. The show seems relatively shoujo’ish and a lot of those kinds of shows thrive when they focus no only on the “chase” but the actual relationship after it has started. However, even with what they have now I’ll really enjoy the show. It has such a great start already. I just hope there isn’t too much of a focus on the actual wrestling part. Although that is part of the premise, I hope it was more of a way to get them to meet and have a rivalry more then a main focus. Of course I know the preview for next episode indicated that focus, but I hope it doesn’t dominate the series.

Well thought this was a pretty solid first episode. Hikari really is in a tough spot trying to overcome someone like Kei. Against almost anyone else in the world she’d be the best, but is trying to clime a mountain here.
Was wondering how Kei would feel, but turned out to be an alright guy. Came out to say what respect he has for Hikari’s efforts. Clearly the guy likes her even though I’m guessing she’s a bit too thick to notice that kind of thing.
Pretty quirky group as well. From a singer who could cause devastation and her brother. To the animal guy who seems to have more to him than we’ve seen. A guy who is going to get himself hit quite often and the girl who will be delivering the pain.
Should be an interesting series.
A good start for the anime.
Also, I want the other characters to get more screen time in the upcoming episodes.
I want to learn more about them.
