Clannad - 21

Tomoyo and the others help Nagisa prepare for the play that is only a couple of days away.

Impressions:

It’s weird, on one hand it seems like this show is ending too soon. After all the next episode is the last one. They haven’t had any huge drama moments or romance moments between Nagisa and Tomoya. Besides them being kind to each other there is no romance really yet, though I know from spoilers in the game that that isn’t’ the case hell since its an H game of course things go further with every girl, but it doesn’t seem like romance is that big of a focus at all in the anime version. Still even though there isn’t a real romance focus and there isn’t any huge drama or arguments and falling out with the characters on the other hand it seems like the pace the series is going at the end is fine. It’s a bit hard to explain but this episode itself was a bit emotional and moving even before the final scene where Nagisa found out the truth. Just he general situation, seeing everyone together and seeing how hard Nagisa was working and how determined she was was touching. The show isn’t horribly tragically sad or anything but there is still a degree of emotion there and it’s really interesting to see.

I think having a conclusion to Nagisa finding out the truth about her past will end up being fine. I almost feel that it’s not enough of a problem but when I really thought about it it seems like it would be great. So many shows have a kind of clichéd situation of romance being a major focus but the focus on family that this how has is extremely interesting. There is a different degree of emotion in the topic of belonging somewhere like that that really makes this show unique in that way.

I am curious as to what kind of epilogue they will have, if any, for the show. I’ve said this before but I LOVE epilogues, I think they are greater then sliced bread. It shows where the entire series you had been watching ends up leading to. Anyways, I hope there is some kind of epilogue that does go into showing some progress with romance on Nagisa and Tomoya’s part. I’m not sure if it will go as far as to show their…..um….ch…Well, no spoilers but I hope they show something.

    H game? I didn’t think clannad was one….

Think there’s an ova after this…

Er you’re wrong, Clannad’s not an H game. There’s not one H scene much to the disappointment of some. However remember the part where Tomoya was comforting Nagisa and holding her back? In the game Kyou doesn’t screw it up and he confesses.

Well would toss in that I wouldn’t call it a H game. Since I was curious about other arcs I beat some of the other girl’s routes and didn’t see anything like that. Sure a kiss here and there, but nothing going beyond that. More of a visual novel that shows you a story along the way. Sure directed at a romance side, but is a distinction.

Should be interesting to see the conclusion of the series. The whole 22 episode thing still is quite unique. But long as they finish it off well I won’t have a problem with it.

Hopefully they’ll give us a happy ending oppose to a sad ending. Given how the CLANNAD movie went, they may go for the sad one.

It has H game additions like Tomoya after, I’ve seen the CGs.

A happy ending is the way to go..
I can’t imagine Nagisa having a sad ending..
    Other characters, yes..
    But not Nagisa..

Yeah, but Tomoyo After would be better classified as a sequel. Follow up of a single route of the game. Since it’s not the actual game still think it’s an inaccurate label to toss onto the main game. Sure fine for the sequel though.

Anyways ended up going way out on a limb here. Important thing is what happens in the last episode of the series. Let’s wrap this thing up.

It really doesn’t matter if its “H” or not as my statement wasn’t using that as the basis for its point.

Remember, Nagisa’s route during this period is just a prologue of what is going to happen on the After Story portion of the series. Her story is basically incomplete without it.

I don’t consider Tomoyo After as a true sequal to CLANNAD. After Story portion from CLANNAD itself already takes that role. While it did serve to tie up some loose ends from Tomoyo’s route in CLANNAD, the game just didn’t had much emotional impact that the After Story from CLANNAD had. Also, the first couple of minutes into playing Tomoyo After felt like the game was made only to satisfy Tomoyo fans and those craving for H scenes.

I can only hope that KyoAni will get the After Story part sometime later on.
