D. Gray-Man – 73

Lavi, Crowley, and Bookman continue to fight against the giant Akuma and Tykki and are saved when Kanda and Marie arrive to help.

Impressions:

This episode was great. Even if for the most part all this episode did was show a pretty fierce battle and no major plot advancement or anything like that, it was still great to see. The situation defiantly looked bad for everyone before Kanda showed up. However even with Kanda I don’t really think its going to be a picnic for them. In the preview it kind of showed Kanda struggling so even with their help it looks like the situation will turn against them very soon. Still, Kanda was extremely cool. Part of that may be from him actually being cool but another part is that we pretty much haven’t seen Kanda AT ALL. He kind of dropped out of the show for a bit. Hell even when he was shown with Tiedol he didn’t do much fighting, so this is the first time in a long time we’ve seen him fight. I am pretty curious as to what Tiedol is doing. He didn’t join in the fight or anything so it seems like he has his own agenda. Whatever it is it’s probably pretty important for him to not wait until the current fight was over.

I am getting very anxious to see Allen appear in Edo. Part of me really wants him to show up while the other part understands and appreciates the part of the story being done without him. Still, it’s mainly because of how completely badass he’s gotten more then because he’s the main character. I’m just itching for that moment where he appears and effortlessly does something that the others are struggling with and Lenalee and Lavi see him again. Even though they know he’s not dead it should still be an interesting reunion. However even though really do want to see him again and have him be with the rest of the characters, not off on his own, I think it might be a while before we see that. There is some benefit and merit in having the main character not featured in a part of the story and considering we had several episodes recently that pretty much JUST featured him they’ll probably give a couple more to everyone else before bringing him back.

Yeah welcome back Kanda. Think he was doing fine with Tyki considering he had a hostage at the time. Long as they survive that massive ball of death the Earl sent at him he should be able to hold his own. Maybe it is partially because he hasn’t been around, but Kanda really is damn cool. Shows up, puts Tyki on the defensive, and with help of Marie to take out that giant akuma in one shot.

They are in a pretty rough spot with all the enemies in the area. Do wonder what Tiedol’s plan is. Could be holding back just because the risk to the innocence fragments he is carrying would be, or he may have a plan that needs to be carried out.

Will be good to have Allen back, but its not such a bad thing for the other characters to get the spotlight. Allen’s innocence can now really pack a punch so holding out on that for a while will let the others show off their skills.
