Nagi gives Hayate some time off from working to study for the upcoming tests and gets a robot butler who looks just like Hayate to replace him, causing some jealousy.
Impressions:
No Isumi = episode failure. Ok, well not really, this episode was pretty good and I liked it a lot better then some others. I thought the really big focus on jealousy that both Nagi and Hayate had was very fun to watch. Although I’ve pretty much given up hope that the show will show any real serious romance going on it was still nice to see something along those lines used as a topic even if it didn’t really lead anywhere. This show is way too comedy centered for any kind of serious romance, which is a bit of a shame if nothing else because they keep setting up a good opportunity. It’s not like Lucky Star or another comedy show where there isn’t that much optional for serious romance, this show has it but I doubt anything will happen with it. Even so, like I said when they use it as a focus even if it doesn’t go anywhere it does lead to some of the funnier episodes of the series.
I am curious as to if we’ll be seeing more from 13. I do have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the way this episode turned out. I really thought that it was going to be some clone of the whole 8 thing where 13 turned kind of rogue and harmed others to get Nagi to himself or something, as it looked like that was what was going on. However the fact that it didn’t was great just because they had already done something like that before. It would have felt too recycled. This way it was pretty new and fresh and it opened up some really nice moments between Hayate and Nagi. I’m not sure if we’ll see him again though, because even though he’s alive he doesn’t have the same role as 8 who’s appeared multiple times. 8 was for comedy and 13 not as much, at least not the kind of slapstick kind. Without that 13 would need some bigger focus and to bring that around again might seem too awkward.
I do have to say that seeing Neko maid Maria was pure awesomeness by itself but when it showed her in the Lum bikini it was great too.

Needs more Hinagiku, damn it… but at least Maria got an appearance, even if it was to completely unsettle and distract Hayate.
I can see they referenced 300…(Nagi watching the tv) and the matrix. They also did the Iron Giant with the mecha-Hayate and all. But, it’s all just for good laughs and I never expected much from this show other than to make fun of all other famous animes to gain success from.
