True Tears - 02

Noe begins to show her friendship openly towards Shin around school, causing him to get embarrassed and for rumors to start.

Impressions:

I’m really just captivated by this show. That’s the best way I can describe it. It’s not that the show has just blasted off and become something that I’d consider amazing right off the bat, but it’s not bad. It’s not confusing and weird, but it just seems to have a way of things that I haven’t really seen much before. I’m constantly wondering what all of these things mean, how real they are, if they are metaphors, and just in general what will happen. Although this may technically be a harem it is certainly not like any I’ve seen before. It’s not just the girl who the guy will end up with that I’m unsure of either. That usually is the case with romance shows, being the main thing that one wonders about, but right now that isn’t top on my list of things I just want to figure out. The fact that it can make me so interested in it like this really just surprises me and I really REALLY just want to find out what will happen next.

The other thing that just has me so involved in this show is the bizarre use of these dreams. I can’t really tell if they are dreams, metaphors, premonitions, metaphoric premonitions, or just Shin figuring things out for whatever he’s creating/writing. Even if it is on the surface something he’s figuring out for what he’s writing there is more to it just because he seems to be basing these off things that have happened. Along with that is kind of the weird cryptic talk of Noe. Saying things such as giving away her tears and needing more. I’m really curious as to how much of that is real and how much is a metaphor, did something really sad happen before and now she can’t cry? What’s with the dreams? Do they need to make Hiromi cry for Noe to be able to? It’s a bit confusing but more then that it’s just engaging and interesting right now.

I was a bit surprised to see that Hiromi had a past with Shin. Not that it would be an uncommon or unlikely thing in this genre, in fact it’s far from it, but my initial impression of her character and her relationship with Shin I just didn’t think that they would end up going for that. However cliché it might be it does add a lot of possibilities to the story, because without it any relationship or feelings she has won’t be long lasting and not as important. Still, even though they had some kind of past event it doesn’t seem like they were really childhood friends, even other shows that have these incidents in the past don’t seem to break up the friendship between people, and Hiromi and Shin just seemed incredibly distant.

Really is something about the series that draws you in. Not sure what exactly it is about the show. Some kind of seriousness that at least makes it feel a bit different.

So Shin gets turned into a chicken replacement. From the image of a dead older woman in the ED and that picture I’d assume Noe’s grandmother passed away. Perhaps that could have something to do with her loss of tears. Maybe she was so close that its just impossible to cry anymore. That girl has some great perception knowing almost immediately that Hiromi had no intentions of friendship.

It’s a little surprising to see Hiromi so energetic out there on the basketball court. Getting to see some of her past was pretty interesting as well. Was surprising to know she had a connection to Shin. Considering we haven’t seen him dwell on that. But should be good to find out some more about the past.

This has been a solid show and one that leaves you looking forward to the next episode.

I was actually expecting for shin and hiromi to have some sort of past with each other…seeing as they were living together for some reason…but even still, the flashback still surprised me a bit….it got me interested in what would cause them to be so distant from each other at the rpesent…especially since in the flashback she seemed to really care for Shin…and Shin seems to really care for her through his dreams too…
