Yoshiyuki gets word that Otome has collapsed due to the pressure of dealing with Minatsu and her identity being a rumor throughout school so he leaves the school trip, breaking his promise with Koko.
Impressions:
Wow…everything has really gone to hell now. Minatsu’s problem seems like it’s almost too full blown to be able to resolve. Although I’ve said before I spoiled myself to the end because o the subs delay, that was only in regards to who Yoshiyuki does or doesn’t end up with, I don’t know how this Minatsu thing will be resolved. I’m sure it will, but it’s pretty hard to see how. It’s not a small thing that can be fixed; it’s a huge wide scale problem. They aren’t going to be able to change world opinions on a subject to help Minatsu out. This isn’t some squabble between lovers, as far as Minatsu’s arc is concerned, it involved everyone in the school and a general moral belief or disbelief in how robots should be in regards to humans. It just doesn’t seem like something that can be fixed. I just hope, more then anything now, that Minatu’s arc ends realistically compared to the situation.
As I said the show is exciting right now really because there are two rather big and important things happening. Not only is Minatsu in a huge mess with the entire school pretty much sure she’s a robot and things set to escalade even further, but Koko and Yoshiyuki are in a big mess. I said this before but since the subs were taking so long I kind of spoiled myself to the end, but even if I didn’t I’m sure I’d be able to tell that at this point Koko and Yoshiyuki are going to break up. First of all hardly any relationships last if there is a confession at the beginning of the show if it not a pure shoujo romance, so their relationship was pretty much doomed from the start. But considering all the focus they have put on Koko feeling jealous and just not getting ANY attention at all, it’s obvious by now. They’ve done maybe half an episode where Koko and Yoshiyuki go on a date, and even that turned into focusing on another character a bit. They haven’t done any boyfriend and girlfriend kind of stuff, and I’m sure they’ll break up. It’ll probably be Koko who breaks it off as well just because Yoshiyuki doesn’t seem like he would do that to her. However I just desperately hope that they will still be friends, which is a good possibility with this genre of show. Even if there isn’t a lot of content left after they break up, hopefully for the second season Koko will still be an included character, even if her focus is all in this season.
