Hayate no Gotoku - 38

Nagi’s old butler Himegami suddenly appears after a fight in which the superintendent goes after Hayate and Nagi.

Impressions:

This episode was certainly interesting. First off I didn’t know anything about how many episodes long this series is, but from the preview it seems to say that it will go up to 39 which pretty much makes this episode half of the entire major climax plot. It certainly was interesting. I always knew Himegami had to return seeing as they never said he died or anything like that. A position as important as Nagi’s previous butler isn’t something they can just dismiss. Although, I do have to say I’m a bit scared at what part he’ll play. I always feared his return because I like Hayate’s character and for Himegami to come back could easily put his job in jeopardy and I didn’t want him to be replaced. That almost seems like what is happening now so I really hope they resolve it with Hayate staying. I’m sure they will, as this show doesn’t seem the kind to put that kind of drama in the show, but still Himegami kind of turned things upside down and stole Hayate’s importance, so right now I’m not sure how much I like his involvement in the show.

As far as an individual character, I just love Himegami. Just using one scene as an example almost sums up why I like him so much. He’s this extremely mysterious and serious person, has a lot of ability and wisdom, falls in form nowhere holding a banana and when is asked about why the hell he would be holding a banana he just calmly and seriously says he won’t share. That may be a bad job of explaining it but I just loved that scene and his character in general is great. Now, like I said I’m not too sure with how much I’ll end up liking his role, but as far as his character it’s great.

I will say that I’m not positive 39 is the last episode mostly because I’m confused at them calling these last two episodes previews of the last two episodes. It seems as if they are actually calling the episode itself a preview, so who knows.

They’re calling 38 and 39 previews for the final episode. I guess we won’t know what that really means until ep 52 rolls along. The show breaks the fourth wall so many damn times, I don’t really take it so seriously anymore.

I think it’s just self-advertisement for the series finale when it comes, but we should still get a good series of development episodes until then. I expect a final epic battle of some sort.

they just meant that 38 and 39 will conclude the league of dark butlers arc i think.
