When Nanaka gets trapped on the roof at school after hours in a rain storm, Yoshiyuki tries to rescue her.

Impressions:

I thought this episode was great. They haven’t had any Nanaka development at all before this so it was really nice to see. I’m not really sure how much more of the show will focus on character development. It definitely seems to be that they are focusing on fluff episodes instead of any overall plot involving Koko and Yoshiyuki. However, although they may be fluff episodes if they are these kinds, ones with good character development, then it will be fine. Although, really, this episode was more then just fluff. It was one of the character development episodes that was more plot centered as it really dealt with Yoshiyuki and romantic feelings.

Overall the whole situation that the characters are in has kind of thrown me a bit. Just the fact that Yoshiyuki and Koko are already going out from the very start of the show essentially has been kind of weird just because not a lot of other shows do something like that. If they do, they aren’t like this show. This isn’t some shoujo show or anything like that so the direction of things is different. I’m not sure if this show would actually go so far as to break them up. This episode really made me think about the other girls that have feelings for Yoshiyuki. Really, so far, Nanaka is one of the only ones that have shown that. I think Minatsu is way to different to have serious feelings for him, and the only other one that may get some focus is Yume but she hasn’t’ gotten any so far so it makes me think she won’t get much later down the road. I love Nanaka’s character and kind of want her to end up with Yoshiyuki but at the same time I want Koko and Yoshiyuki to remain together. Things would be a hell of a lot simpler if they weren’t already going out and I could just say who I wanted to win him over, however I’m not sure I want them to actually break up just because Koko seems so nice and I think it would be devastating for her. However, even if they do end up together in the end I think that just this general situation has lead to some great episodes and will do so later on, things that they can’t rally do if they aren’t already going out. They had some great character development from Nanaka here and if Yoshiyuki wasn’t going out with Koko I don’t think they could have had anything near that. It seems as if all the other girls are doomed to get development, but end up bad for them, which may be sad, but does make things interesting.
