The Sky Girls try and find out more about the mysterious girl that has come aboard the ship, Aisha, who seems to have some connection to the Worms and Sonic Divers.

Impressions:

Oh my god, this show is actually showing that it has a plot! I was stunned at this episode because it not only showed something that was a plot for the whole series, a focus on the WORMs true nature and so on but it actually dealt with it. It didn’t just say it in passing at the last second. Really, this show had been showing pretty much no real plot until now. The most it did was have these very cryptic messages at the end of the episode where they would say the WORMs are attacking again. Aside from that they would switch off doing completely fluff filled episodes dealing with absolutely nothing and mostly fluff filled episodes dealing with the random WORM that happens to appear. This episode really seemed to set up a plot that the show has. It’s a shame that it came so late. Even if they didn’t do anything about it yet it still feels as if they should have revealed this sooner. Episode 19 seems way too late in the series to reveal that there is any kind of plot at all. What’s almost worse is that the preview for the next episode seems to imply that a majority of it will be fluff yet again, dealing with perhaps some “character development” for Aisha. Really just watching this far and seeing there is some kind of plot they aren’t touching on at all really makes me feel this series would have been MUCH better as a shorter 12-14 episode series.

I am really interested in the whole Otoha thing too. Although she kind of dismissed her seeing her brother in Aisha they went back to the thought when the professor asked for more information on her. They haven’t really shown that Otoha is that special, she does seem to have an odd connection to Reijin since she calls it Zero and all, but beyond that they haven’t really bothered to develop that at all. It does seem like it could be an issue though, so I’m very curious about that.
