Da Capo II - 05

Yoshiyuki and Koko finally go out on a date together and are followed by their friends to see how they are doing.

Impressions:

This episode was very very fun to watch. Although it is defiantly one of the most clichéd episodes I’ve seen, it was still fun. The episode was practically textbook example of an eroge adaptation anime date. I mean, it was all there, the friends following them to watch, the shyness about holding hands, it fit almost everything. Yet although I kind of laughed about that to myself while watching it the episode still just seemed to be fun to watch. The chemistry and relationship between Koko and Yoshiyuki is just very fun to watch and it was rather sweet to see them both be shy. I originally thought that the show really needed drama but this episode more or less showed that it can still have a good focus on romance without it, as I did enjoy this episode even though it wasn’t the most original premise by any means.

I’m doubting my initial guess/theory that Koko and Yoshiyuki wouldn’t end up together in the end. Generally, a lot of times, if there is a confession on the first episode like there was for this show then there has to be drama somewhere down the line, usually resulting in the couple not ending up together. However the way that the relationship has been going between Yoshiyuki and Koko I’m really seeing that they do fit rather well together. Just the fact that things aren’t being rushed too much makes me think that they have a good shot. Hell, the only other competition that has really shown any interesting in Yoshiyuki is Yume. Sure there are the other girls how he could end up with in the game, but even Nanak and Otome hasn’t shown any kind of romantic feelings, and Yume has shown only a little. So for one there is just very little competition. If he doesn’t end with Koko it would have to be because of some big drama event and that would have to center around another girl which I just don’t see happening. Second, Koko and Yoshiyuki just seem really good together. There isn’t any kind of tension, no hints about whether or not it was a right choice to o out together, and things are going slow enough that there is plenty of room for more content, especially considering the rather slow and warm hearted pace the show has. I don’t doubt there will be drama down the road, perhaps it is drama centering around another girl saying she likes him, but right now I don’t see Koko and Yoshiyuki breaking up.
