Mao goes out on a date with Kai while Kouichi continues to seek Hoshino’s help on writing the screenplay for the movie club.

Impressions:
This show is still rather interesting and I am enjoying it a lot. I kind of worried at first last episode when Mao said she would go out with Kai. I just felt like it took away from the possibility of her ever going for Kouichi, given they had a whole childhood friend thing I was really thinking that she would end up having feelings for him. However watching this episode really did seem like the situation things where in was still fine. After all, although there isn’t any competition for Kouichi or anything like that the romance story between him and Hoshino is still interesting and fun to watch. I found it very cute and sweet to just see the way they were both shy and embarrassed and just seeing them act that way tighter I hope they end up together, so I actually hope Mao doesn’t really offer too much conflict in terms of that. I do hope though that they start going out or confess before the end of the series. This is a shoujo and some of the other romances in the story have gotten further I just hope this one does too.
As far as conflict and love rivalry goes, the show still has that. I really was viewing Kazuki as a side character compared to everyone else but really he’s almost s main of a character as Kouichi is. In his situation there definitely does seem to be this love conflict building up, he likes Futami but there is also the soccer girl that could prove to be interesting when the explore a bit more about her feelings. As far as Mao goes, I’m not too sure about her. It seems as if she may have some drama in just the fact Kai is a bit o a loner and his ambitions to the future but beyond that she’s pretty much become the lest interesting out of the three characters I would consider main, her, Kouichi, and Kazuki. I really don’t even think she needs that much conflict, its almost as if these three characters have their own romances and each focus on a different kind of romance portrayed in all kinds of shows, as if this is a romance show that has three romance stories from all different romance genres….wow that sentence said romance in it a lot. Anyways, I do hope they al become a bit more interesting then they are now, but they are still fine for this far into the series, easily, as they are set up to be great.
Did you try the manga? It follows a different story: Mao x Kouichi (first volume)
I haven’t read the manga, no. I am a bit surprised that the manga differs form the anime that much, if it does indeed go down that road. It certainly doesn’t seem as if the anime is heading towards Mao x Kouichi.
