Impressions:
This episode was good, however I did get the feeling that the show was beginning to already start in with some of the fluff episodes. Although this is a rather ordinary school romance comedy show I guess that’s to be expected a bit, I may have been hoping for some immediate drama or something just because I was looking forward to it a bit. However, this episode was also an introduction to a new character, so it could very well still do really good on making sure to keep the espies interesting even if they don’t have any direct content based on romance or relationships and drama. After all, they already have the main character going out with someone so perhaps this episode was really more focused on Minatsu and they’ll turn to some serious stuff soon and not bother with the fluff….hopefully. Even if they do though this episode was pretty enjoyable, so even if the episodes are isolated and don’t deal with any overall subject, if they do a good job with them I’m sure it’ll be fine.
I absolutely love Minatsu! She’s definitely become my favorite character in this series so far, but rally only because hardly any of the other characters have really shown that much personality. Hell, even Koko is still relatively undeveloped; she just likes the main character, that’s it. She gets a little shy, not to the point I rally defines her character, doesn’t do anything funny, really Minatsu is the most fun character they have and has become my favorite character. Even if some of the other characters got some development, I’m pretty sure she’d remain my favorite character. If I were playing the game her path would definitely be my first choice just because she really just jumped out from this episode and grabbed my attention, plus she’s cute in a very tsundere way.
I do have to make the comparison to To Heart now though now that Minatsu has appeared. My god, they could have easily made the topic of a very very human like android different, but it’s almost identical to how it was in To Heart. Hell, the android naming scheme is roughly the same. In To Heart they were HMX ## and here it’s HMA ##. Plus, there was a scene that I could have sworn I had seen the exact scene before, and I really don’t remember any android in Da Capo. I could have sworn that the main character in one of the TO Heart series, I think it was the first because Ilfa seemed rather independent, I could have sworn that the main character had to hide the fact that Multi was a android and did a scene where something happened and he had to grab her and run off.
On a quick side note, this episode has really really made me want to get one of those cat hat things. I think they are just really cool, and Minatsu looks great with them on, plus they’ve appeared in many many other anime before, Ama for one was always wearing them, and Ayu wore it after her hair cut. I really want one now after seeing Minatsu with it on.
