During summer vacation, Hayate tries to find a way to learn and ultimate attack so he might compare with the other butlers at school.

Impressions:

This episode was good. It wasn’t really bad or anything, but it didn’t seem that great either. Rather average at best. Its not as if they did anything wrong, as some of the topics were a bit funny but really it felt like it was a bit boring. Nothing really happened in it. Even the confrontation between Nagi and Nish was a bit boring. I was expecting something a lot more from that given that it then becomes a topic of romance rivalry, which is generally interesting and can have some good results, however it really didn’t come down to that much. Really, it was just an average episode with no quick segments or jokes that were super hilarious and the generally feel just felt, well, a tad boring. Not that its bad, just not one of the show’s best.

One question this episode did raise was what the real story with the previous butler was. They’ve mentioned him before as having been the previous butler and in this episode they actually explain that out loud and to Hayate, but they don’t say what actually happened to him. I think it could be interesting to see why he left as it may be a opportunity for the series to show a bit of drama incase its anything important, but even if it doesn’t go that way just a story with that kind of impact has a lot of comedy potential too.

The butler network this episode was very funny. Generally they really don’t have anything special about the butler network thing. For the most part they don’t talk about really anything and although there is some charm sometimes from really random things that don’t mean anything, the previous butler networks were a bit boring. Most of them were pretty much the same too. Except for than they brought Maria in they were nearly identical. However, them bringing Isumi into the butler network section of this episode was great. Not just because she is one of my favorite characters but they didn’t just have her talking with the others normally. She kind of ran the section and more then that it was actually funny. Most of what she does is funny though, so a big part of it could have been that it was her, but still I really enjoyed this episodes butler network which is just a bit surprising because they generally aren’t anything special at all.
