Allen and Lenalee meet up with Lavi and Crowley on their way to find Cross and defend a small village from and Akuma attack.

Impressions:

I found this episode to be pretty interesting. It strangely wasn’t really interesting or exciting in the same way as many of the episodes have been. Although there was a fight scene in this episode, that’s not really at all what made it interesting, the fight wasn’t really that interesting or very long. I really found it intriguing because it dealt with a different kind of seriousness then the rest of the plot. It didn’t really have anything concrete it would seem, it didn’t’ really advance the plot as to the Noah’s family attacking or finding out more about the Heart of Innocence. However it dealt with the real emotional impact all the fighting and deaths have had. Although not really something exciting, I think it’s very important for the story to have something like that. After all, it allows for the characters to really be more human. If they show these kinds of emotions it really makes them more connectable and things that happen to them are just more interesting. They talked about just the impact of the deaths but again reiterated how they are a team and it’s ok that they can’t save anyone. It’s a little bit preachy and sentimental, and although maybe not too interesting or outstanding of a thing, really makes the characters more down to earth.

I am quite curious as to why the Earl is so concerned about Cross. He took a special note of saying how he hops that Cross doesn’t get in his way, so he obviously knows about him. However he was talking about the heart at the same time so it almost felt like he didn’t think Cross had the heart but just knew enough about how powerful Cross is that he could hinder his plans. That just makes me wonder even more exactly how powerful Cross is or what exactly he can do and also, why the hell the Earl knows him. I mean, he’s a General but he didn’t take any note of hoping the other Generals didn’t get in his way. They didn’t even have a hard time with Yeegar, so Cross really has to be above them all. I’m just unsure of exactly how or why.
