Makoto goes out on a date with Katsura and tries to do what he is supposed to on a date but is completely clueless and nearly drives Katsura away.

Impressions:
I thought this episode was great. It wasn’t really as exciting as the first episode, with the bit of mystery to the characters and everything they put in with the kiss at the end. However, I think this really followed the theme of making this series in general a bit more then the others are. Hell, most series that have any romance at all in them, if they ever actually get to a date then the girl is all over the guy and the date is perfect. It was amazing to see a show that would take the date as a problem and actually focus on problems in the relationship this early on. It really is a lot more real then anything else that’s portrayed usually in anime, which make sit all the more compelling. I wasn’t even expecting there to be problems right off the bat with how close they are in their relationship. I knew this show was great and had already stated that it had done a lot of other things to set it apart, but I was still half expecting them to still do something where they both have a perfect time on the date. I love the way things are moving and can’t wait for more.
I am a bit surprised that they didn’t have as much tension between Sekai and Makoto. It seemed like a pretty important event that she kissed him, and I can’t believe that Makoto would be stupid enough o actually believe she meant it as a friend way of saying hello. I mean, the guy seems to be pretty stupid in general, really, but I wouldn’t think he would be that clueless. I just hope that they have some really good drama. Hell, she still has a very good chance of actually ending up with him. However, I think that the show needs to show some drama, even if it doesn’t go way out of control like it might in the climax. If they just leave it till the last minute to do anything with Sekai then I don’t think she’ll be enough of a frontrunner to really make a difference. Whether she wins or looses, if they don’t include her in the drama way more before the end then her part will become less important. Still, she has remained an interesting character, I’m just a little disappointed they didn’t do too much with her in this episode, but I suppose they needed this episode to establish Katsura and Makoto’s relationship.
