The Drama Research Club puts on their first play, with Mugi’s first appearance on stage where she must overcome her shyness to say the few lines she has.

Impressions:

Finally the subs for this show have resumed. The release for this series subs has been rather odd, as first we had a group do episode one, then a different one do one and two, and now a third that has done one though four, and who started after the other two. It’s rather a shame, because this show is very interesting and fun to watch. The characters are great and it’s not really something that’s been done too many times. Although the whole shy girl thing is there in most anime, the focus on her being the main character and having to overcome that is a bit of a new focus, so it does make things interesting. Plus she s a very fun and cute character, making the whole how just fun to watch. I’ll post episode four soon, I just hope this group doesn’t die and we have to wait for another one to do one though five or something.

Anyways, as for the actual episode itself, it was great. I wasn’t really expecting them to show as much drama this early on as they did. The drama and seriousness of the back-story behind Nono and the other president was really interesting. I had guessed that there of course had to be something between them, like there was one club and the two of them had some falling out and then there were two clubs. That’s still a possibility, but the introduction of Nono having some voice paralysis thing was very interesting as it made things much more serious. It made her situation very serious and permanent; bring in a whole new feel to the show. There is still the focus on things being rather laxed, but at the same time they introduced this possibility of there being a lot of drama behind Nono’s situation, which I find great. I just hope they can really turn her situation into something that makes the plot all the more interesting, as just because they have her in that situation, if they don’t later near the end of the series make it more serious or put a bit more drama around it, it won’t’ nearly be as interesting. Even if not though, they’ve already, with just this, given a good explanation of the kind of relationship that Nono and the other president used to have, which makes the tension between them better. Previously, you just had tow rival clubs but giving them some kind of history makes it much more interesting.

Mugi was very cute and funny in this episode, as really she makes the entire show. Her character and her problems, everything is really solely centered on her and so far she has shown that she is up to the task of supporting the show on her character, as even without the whole play and drama club rivalry, the show would still be very interesting and fun if it was just about Mugi.
