Lucky Star - 06

The girls all head out to the beach with their teacher and Yui, staying overnight at a hotel and bath house.

Impressions:

This show has really gotten to the point where I can’t say any broad things about the show in general or the way its handling things, the pace and humor and so on. The show is really one of the steadiest shows I’ve seen in terms of how it differs from episode to episode. It differs in that each one is unique and funny to watch. It doesn’t really feel that repetitive because even though they may all just sit around and talk in each episode, they talk about different stuff. It’s just continually about random things and I can’t say much more about the show in general, unlike a lot of the other series I do posts on. From now on, for the most part, I’m just going to be able to say what parts I liked, not really any observations. But with this show, it should really make much of a difference.

I love all of Konata’s references to H-Games. It’s particularly interesting and funny because she’s a girl and not some of the normal clichéd guys that you may see in some other anime. The way she talks about it so only, and acting like all of life is the same as the game is just great. It may also be because I’ve played the games before so I know what she’s talking about. The whole save before a split, no exceptions bit was just all that funnier to me. The other high point of this episode had to be Yui’s driving. Just the way that she went completely psycho and insane at that moment when she got passed. Then she seems like some crazy murderer even though she is a TRAFFIC cop.

I think Lucky Channel is doing just fine. I’ve heard some varying opinions about Lucky Channel, even within people who like Lucky Channel, some who think it’s boring, and some who love it. Actually looking at what it does in contrast to the regular show is a bit interesting. The topics and what they talk about are rather pointless, much more so then the regular show. In fact, it seems to have no focus whatsoever. However, it still manages to have its own charm, but really only from the sole fact of Akira’s personality. If they had anyone else doing this show, even a good character I don’t think it would go very well at all. It’s not even so much the fact Akira herself is a funny character. Although in her own sense, she is great character. The huge tsundere factor she has is just pure comedy. Which also means that she wouldn’t fit very well as a normal character in any other show. However the sheer pointlessness of Lucky Channel fits her explosive tsundere side very well, and I think as long as they keep a focus on Akira during the Lucky Channel segment, it will continue to do ok.

I’m guessing that Initial D could be one of the most parodied animes ever. GOSH. Konata is one underdeveloped wreck. She needs to change that suit too. Year 6!?
