Sumomomo Momomo - 19

When a homeless maid stumbles upon the apartments Koushi and Momoko are living in, they take her but when she reveals to Momoko she’s an assassin she just plays innocent in front of Koushi, causing Koushi to get angry at Momoko’s accusations.

Impressions:

Wow, I was very very pleasantly surprised by this episode. I really don’t have very high expectations for this show anymore. I may generally rate things high, but I don’t really have any delusions that this isn’t the best show. However, even still I was very impressed with this episode. I think that the show is likely to be a bit better now that they are in the final stretch, which seems to be just dealing with the three Koganei siblings. Even without their appearance near the end, I thought the whole problem brought for the by the dress up doll assassin was interesting, as they hadn’t really shown or dealt with someone getting between Momoko and Koushi like that. I did think that her power was a bit absurd and just odd, but I suppose it was ok because she dint’ turn out to be that important of a character if she was disposed of like that. Now that those three siblings have been shown, I think the remaining seven or so episodes will all deal and then conclude with them. This seems to be where Momoko gets a fighting outfit as shown in the OP, since the preview seemed to have her in it.

I am a bit surprised and taken back at the way that this show will eventually end. With three very strong enemies left it’s pretty much given they will be the final enemy of the series. However, I’m just surprised at how they dealt with the twelve families. Some of them got nearly no attention at all, yet the Tiger clan got HUGE involvement because they are the final enemy, not to mention the earlier arc about Tenka. Hell, I don’t even remember now if they did deal with all of the clans yet, as they never really made a big deal out of most of them. They eve kind of abandoned the whole idea that there are some marital artists form the East Branch that may not want to kill him, but marry him for power. They kind of just abandoned that, as they showed four girls saying they will marry him, and then none of them appeared again. I don’t really feel like counting and going back and figuring out if they showed them all or not, because it doesn’t seem like that’s the important part, which is surprising just because it seemed like the show was leading to a confrontation with all of them. I’m just surprised that the Tiger clan is so big and clans like the Mouse clan got one quick episode, not even directly focused on them. Not that it will turn out bad, or should I say any worse then if they did it a different way, just a bit surprising.

I find this show to be unbelievably hilarious. The whole idea of that Cosplay ability was genius, I couldn’t stop laughing when she was explaining it. On the other hand, I find this show to be a bit too predictable. I suppose you can’t have it all. The show’s drawing to a close, though, which is a bit of a shame.
