The teacher of Riku’s class, Haruka, starts having doubts about herself and her life so she keeps playing an online game where she feels there is some hope.

Impressions:

This episode was great. I know I had previously harped on episodes for not having much to do with overall character advancement, as in the non important characters, but even for one of those episodes, this one was great. Although I still think it’s important they focus on Mina, Tsukasa, and Sayuri no matter who Riku ends up with, I’m glad that this episode played out how it did. For a fluff episode, it was great. It didn’t have any super outrageous silly things that made it too chaotic to really take seriously, and it showed an actual problem that a character was having. I don’t really mind if there are more fluff episodes, or should I say episodes that focus on things other then the relationship between Riku and whoever as long as they are done as good as this one was. I’m not saying this episode was great solely because of the character focused on, but just that they did a good job of making that focus on a minor character interesting, and made you care about her.

As for Haruka herself, she has turned out to be quite a fun character. They didn’t’ really show much of anything with her prior to this episode, she was just always there. All the other teachers had different quirks, which I can imagine is what made the game this was based on interesting at points; however Haruka seemed to be one of the least interesting faculty at the school. I’m glad for this episode because it took the little we knew about her and made it into the episode. If they had given her some weird personality thing this wouldn’t have been that interesting, she was just a normal person with a real typical problem one might have in that they are unsure of if they are good at what they do and if their life will lead anywhere. Even for an almost completely unmentioned character I really got into caring about her in this short bit, so I hope they will at least include her a bit more even if she doesn’t get any more direct attention like she did in this episode.
