Yuuichi deals with the news about Makoto, trying to spend as much time as he can with her knowing her fate.

Impressions:
This episode was very emotional. Although they haven’t even ended her arc yet, showing whether she disappears or not this episode itself made me really feel for Makoto, I just hope they do as great of a job next episode when it apparently will end. Although I kind of say this again in the spoilers section, expect referencing what happens, even though they didn’t conclude this it was still a very depressing episode. I think that it is because they have done such a wonderful job with Makoto’s character. I remember feeling sad about this arc before, but this new version really is much better, not by animation alone, but how much they are making the characters likable.
Someone brought up this question before and I thought I’d touch on it here, and not just as a reply to his comment. So far the pace of the new series compared to the old series has been different. It seems like the end of the Makoto arc will be next episode. Hopefully it will go the same way as the old series, but if not it will still likely be the end. That fits in perfectly, because episode 10 of the old series was the end of the Makoto arc as well. However, the one huge difference is in the old series, before they gave the news about Makoto’s identity they had already completely finished Shiori and Mai’s arc. They basically introduced all the characters and a bit about their arcs, and worked on them at the same time, then did Mai and Shiori’s, then Makoto’ Next was just Ayu and Nayuki’s arc which kind of went together. Basically, they’ve moved up Makoto’s arc completely, which means that if she does disappear she will be gone from the story during Mai and Shiori’s arc, even though she was there in the old series. Now, she didn’t really do much to advance those arcs, but as someone said if she dies it will be taking her out of the story more then she was in the first series.
Spoilers:
Ok, again there’s not really anything I can put in this spoilers section, and likely nothing after the next episode either. Although, I will say that even though I know what’s coming, it’s still extremely emotional. I’m guessing, hoping, that she will disappear in this series like she did in the other one, however even knowing that I was amazed at how much THIS episode made me feel for her. I can’t imagine what I’ll be thinking net episode, as it was emotional the first time but even watching it again they’ve done such a great job on her character that I feel for her so much its still emotional.
I was expecting this arc to end this episode, but I guess we have to wallow in sorrow for Makoto’s sure-to-come demise for a while longer. KyoAni became so sucked in to the gloom and depth of this arc that they either forgot or decided to exclude all the other main characters and focus entirely on our werefox…
I thought Makoto was going away this episode as well. Gosh, I’m sad for her, godawfully cute in a mono no aware situation.
Having neither seen the first series nor played the game before, this episode had an even greater impact on me. I hope that none of the other arcs are as sad as this one, and I really wish that Makoto would not die. I’ll be really really sad if she does die.
Oh, the other arcs are even sadder I think. I cried during both the Shiori and Ayu arc.
Oh my god. I hope you are not telling the truth because otherwise that would be a major spoiler for me. The perfect ending from this arc for me would be that Makoto transforms back into a fox or something instead of dying, because then she can at least stay with Yuuichi forever. I would be happy if that happens.
KyoAni is absolutely deadly at making good anime.
How would saying the arcs are sad be a spoiler? Anyways, I disagree with her becomign a fox being a good ending. Sometimes, a lot of times, a sad ending is the best for the story. Even if you dont necisarly want a character to die its better for the overall feel if she does. I hope Makoto dies, but not because I hate her or anything.
If they handle the Makoto arc that well I can’t wait till they do Shiori’s story.
Although Makoto started off very annoying for me I really feel for her now.
Kanon Remake started off awful but its getting to the story telling quality and realism of the previous series.
