Shouko and Karada try to prepare a cake for Hiro on his birthday, causing Shouko to remember her past with Hiro.
Impressions:
This was a very interesting episode, as it was completely focused on Shouko and her character development. She seems to defiantly have feelings for Hiro still. First off she wanted to help out making the cake. It kind of shows that before she remembered not being able to cook for him when he wanted it, and this was a chance for her to do that for him. Also, at the end her self narration was a big revelation. She said how her heart hurts for him, and when she is around them she is able to smile more. That there, the self revelation really shows her feelings and situation.
Wow, the end was definitely interesting. Basically Karada didn’t know that Shouko and Hiro were together as a couple but supposedly she does now, because she seemed to find the picture of them together which kind of gives it away. Although I’m not so sure exactly the reasoning behind why this is a shock. It will probably be some thing where she realizes how she is in the way, which is why, based on the preview, she ran away. Therefore I think we are going to start getting into a bit more character development of Karada, as she thinks she is a bother.
One thing that interested me was that when everyone found out that the wishing stone had disappeared they said how it’s happened again. I’m guessing the disappearance everyone was noticing was the one caused by Shouko and Karada but this “again” bit seems to mean that the stone disappeared before, which means that it either granted someone’s wish and crumbled away or someone just stole it. Although the latter kind of makes that whole scene not that important.

I loved this episode, and the lighting and mood gives a big impact on the progression of the plot. The Tatsu and Karada moments are really sweet as well.

Ok, I’ve finally watched this episode, and how ironic it is…When Shouko has finally made some friends and become attached to Karada, she goes and gets all emotional, enough to run away and opt to live by herself. She really still is a kid…
I’m glad they’re getting back to the drama. I mean I loved the slice of life feel but the drama of the first few episodes is what made me fall in love with the series.
