Yuuichi spends more time with Makoto, and eventually ends up talking to a girl who knows about Makoto’s identity and her looming fate.

Impressions:
Well, it’s kind of hard for this episode where exactly I should put my thoughts, into the spoiler section or not. We seem to be coming to the end of the Makoto arc. Although in the original series they seemed to intertwine the arcs a bit more, giving Mai, Ayu, and Shiori a bit more screen time while dealing with Makoto but I think I rather like the way they are doing it now. They seem to be giving Makoto a lot of screen time in order to build up people’s likes of the character. It helps to feel more connected with the character.
I guess it’s not a spoiler anymore to say that Makoto is a fox. That’s what Amano said in this episode, along with the clues and all. Makoto was the fox that Yuuichi had when he was a kid, as was featured in one of the flashbacks. He abandoned her and that’s why she felt so strongly about the cat. She will eventually die according to Amano who had a similar experience. Now, I guess I won’t say here what happened to Makoto in the original series, but I will say I hope it happens again. I loved how they concluded her arc and thought overall it was really moving and a great part of the series, so I hope they don’t change that. We will likely see it happen in the next episode or two at least.
Spoilers:
Well, not much I can say in this section. They’ve basically already told the main thing behind Makoto’s part and I’m not going to blindly say what happens to everyone else because it wasn’t touched on in this episode or anything. Like I said before, I hope Makoto dies and disappears this time around. I’m not saying that I want her to die necessarily, I’m not cold hearted or anything, it’s just that I thought that moment was very touching before and the fact that she didn’t come back really made her story have some impact. If they make her stay or disappear and come back I think it will cheapen her part in this series.
Hmm, I’m curious to know when this occurs in the 2002 version…oh and yes, very nice episode, especially with all the Makoto and Yuuichi development
In the 2002 series of Kanon, this episode took place between 9-10. 10 was the concluding bit and 9 led up to it. However, they had already completly finished Mai’s arc and Shiroi’s arc before this. After Makoto’s arc all that was left was Ayu and a bit of Nayuki for the last three episodes.
Hence my point of them completly moving Makoto’s arc up, as they havn’t delved into Shiroi or Mai’s arc at all really.
I agree, I hope thye keep the conclusion the same as the old series. Makoto’s finale was just great and very emotional so hopefully they keep it the same.
Aww, that means they’ve unnecessarily gotten rid of Makoto this early in the series…?
Makoto will die. The bells will herald her demise.
