Impressions:Â
My god, this episode was absolutely amazing. Near the end I was like pulling my hair out at all the revelations and developments. I was expecting most of these to come near the end, but my god. Not only was the actual episode itself amazing and suspenseful, the supposedly final fight with Sin and Abyss, but also, the main thing, is how everything was going to be wrapped up. There are so many technical aspects to this show that there could have been a dozen of things that equally sounded reasonable to end this with.
Kyo giving Ryoko a kiss was just amazingly awesome and surprising. I’m still really interested in what is going to happen with her. She is supposedly still all messed up, with no emotions and so on. When she is outside of the Altair, she should still be in that state so supposedly when Kyo gave her the kiss, that’s how she was. However she definitely didn’t seem apathetic after he left, crying and yelling his name. So does that mean she is completely cured?
The whole Ryoko and Shizuno thing is still one of the predominate mysteries I think. On one hand you have Ryoko who should win. But has the possibility of the whole emotion thing getting in the way. Then you have Shizuno who although can’t get a real body, Kyo did get all memories of them loving each other back. It may be something along the lines of Shizuno ends up sacrificing herself somehow for Kyo to be with Ryoko, because she can’t get a real body which I think is a real hindrance on any advancements on her part.
They finally touched on what was up with Shizuno in this episode. There had always been a kind of mystery behind her, as she seemed to be just as involved with secrets as Shima was. Although I didn’t necessarily guess that she had no real body. I was certainly surprised that she herself knew nothing about what was up with her.
Near the end I was really confused and intrigued. They never really explained what the hell Chris and the other twin were doing. They showed them in the Oceanus and then at the very end they got in the Hrsvalagawd-whatever, Zegapain, and took off. What their part in the final battle confuses me a bit. If the other twin really did die then the both of them have that kind of no reason to live thing and they might do something meaningful.
Some more minor, non theory things about this episode. I loved how there was actual interaction with the world that we saw previously apart from everything. I loved how Ryoko’s brother reacted to seeing Kyo and Ryoko in the Altair. Everyone, their friends at least, getting celebrant icons and having an effect on the Anti-Zega was also just pure win. Also, the music was just amazing in this episode. Especially the music playing after they told about Shizuno, it was amazingly cool.
Of course, to top off an amazing episode that had me pulling my hair out, we have the preview. One thing about it is that it is narrated by Shizuno. She said a bunch of crap about don’t forget my memory and so on. Does this mean she goes away some how? She apparently can’t be resurrected, so does that just mean that when everyone else is resurrected she kind of goes poof? Or does she somehow do something in place of Kyo.
The other main thing about the preview that just had me screaming is the freaking seashell. I’ve said all along that the movie Ryoko made has to have some bigger part, like it’s what happens in the series. IN the movie the main guy goes off to fight and puts his memories of some girl or vice versa in the sea shell, however it breaks and everyone forgets about him. Does that freaking happen to Kyo!? Not only would this whole deal mean Kyo has to spend decades alone while he grows old which would already put him apart from Ryoko, but there is a definite possibility of everyone forgetting him especially with the seashell reference.
Third, WTF was the Anti-Zega doing in the preview? I thought because Chris destroyed all the extra bodies, Sin and Abyss even said something about this, that they can no longer be reborn. That’s why it seemed like such a big deal when they died in this episode because it seemed final.
