First off as I said the one boy in Karada's class would just be hung up to dry, and there would be no hope for Shouko and Hiro given that there was a history there, if they dont give any chance for anything between them it would again put a stop to posible plot development. Although like I said I'm not entirely set on that, as the way they showed Hiro still cares about Karada and be a brother to her even now that she has an adult body could possibly show rising above a situation or something.
