This is kind of like my previous post where I give a brief run down of the trailer for Vol. 2 and quetions it rises. When I wrote the first one I hadn’t even finished Roots let alone even played Vol. 1. Since I recently finished Vol. 1 I thought I should do this post again, this time with updated summary such as in actually knowing Sakaki’s name, as well as more theories and questions given the information I know from Vol. 1.

The screenshots aren’t perfect, the trailer had a lot of unnecisarly black around it, and because some of the clips ran by so fast I couldn’t get screenshots of all the scenes that I wanted to, but this is much better post then the last one.

Summary:

• We see Atoli falling to the ground, with black bubbly stuff floating around her.
• There is seen some explosion of something that spreads a shockwave thought the game. It hits people, they turn blue and disappear.
• Kuhn, Pai, and Zelkova either get hit by the above comment or they disappear for some other reason. It doesn’t seem like they teleport out because Kuhn seems confused as to why he is disappearing. The same thing happens to Yata as well but he is in a different setting.
• We see what looks like Balmung falling from the sky.
• Some shots of people, including Endrance, Yowkow, and Sakubo.
• We see Orca charging at the screen.
• Haseo is shown getting a new symbol on his cheek for his third form.
• Atoli is shown being carried away by Innis.
• We see Balmung and Orca jump past each other.
• Ovan is shown saying something in front of a sign on the wall behind him and we see Haseo walking towards Atoli in town.
• We then see Orca standing up and Balmung getting up from having been on the ground. The two of them look at the camera.
• We see Haseo in the same setting, shocked, and he sees some coffin thing and Tri Edge is there and opens his eyes.
• We see some game play shots.
• We see Sakaki’s eye andthen he is consumed by the black bubbly AIDA stuff and kind of turns completely into it.
• We see a shot of who I believe to be Shino which is likely a flashback as it is all fuzzy and a shot of her in what looks like the cathedral.
• We see Balmung and Orca standing over two bodies.
• We see a shot of Bordeaux and then Sakaki both scream, in different places.
• Balmung and Orca stand in front of a large blue thing with multiple arms, possibly an AIDA.
• Haseo and Endrance stand together in front of a large AIDA. Endrance says that he will give Haseo his power and then starts to deteriorate into data and disappears.
• Haseo yells out Skeith and turns into what looks like an even more advanced version of Skeith from what he could do in the first game.
• We see some game play of Skeith fighting Innis who has some black stuff coming out of it.
• We then see Atoli glowing and floating next to something. There is a huge flash of light and then some explosion of some force field that spreads out.
• We then see Skeith fighting Gorre who doesn’t seem to have black stuff
• Skeith then faces off against “AIDA Gate Keeper” who has as expected black stuff.
• We see Skeith and Innis again looking at each other but getting separated.
• We then see Inniss, who shoots a data drain at Skeith. Innis then rushes forward and Skeith and Innis fight.
• We get some promo for Online Jack now and then a promo for .hack//Roots.
• They show three screens, one showing a clip from Roots with Phyllo, and the other two showing in game setting and we see Phyllo in the game and Haseo walking towards him.
• We see Sakubo alone looking kind of sad, touching the water at one of the Lost Grounds.
• We see Haseo alone in a big white plane with just a white floor and desks like in a school.
• We see a quick shot of Pai, then Endrance, then Yata.
• We see a shot of Sakaki raise his hand out.
• We then see Bordeaux and we see her eye is messed up so she seems to be infected too.
• We see a shot Yowkow, then Kuhn, then Atoli looking startled, then Haseo grinning.
• We go to a shot of some white plane where TriEdge, Balmung, and Orca stand together.
• We then see Atoli bent over in pain, black stuff around her and her character flashes to fuzz and data then back to normal.
• We see some unknown eye.
• We then see what looks like maybe Gabi.
• We see Skeith
• We see a bunch of black hands reaching for Haseo.
• We see Skeith and Innis fight.
• We then see a shot of Atoli, eyes wide with black stuff around her, apparently the same scene as before when she was glowing
• We see a shot of Yowkow
• We see Haseo backed up by Pai and Atoli, rushing forward to fight some AIDA
• We then see a lot of shots rush by really quickly:
• TriEdge awake in his coffin
• Endrance falling
• Guy with a leaf tattoo on his face
• Atoli holding her head in pain
• Silabus and Gaspard laughing and having fun with Haseo
• Skeith
• Balmung and Orca standing with a glowing spot between them in some area with an actual sky not just some plane.
• Cat like person
• Some area with intricate walls with a Sign on it
• Sakaki holding up something glowing
• An eye opening and closing.
• Tri Edge
• Silhouette of what is maybe Sakubo giving the head/hat shape.
• Endrance disappearing in front of Haseo.
• A shot of Sirius holding up someone by the neck and Orca and Balmung facing the camera with boddies all around on the floor.
• Yowkow looking at Sirius at Icolo headquaters.
• A Sign
• Atori
• Yowkow
• Blue AIDA
• It then goes white and we see Tri Edge, Balmung, and Orca walking together in the area we saw with a sign. Ovan is standing there facing them as they approach him, he says something with the big Sign behind him and the three Azure Knights pull out their weapons. The lock on Ovan’s arm glows and the Azure Knights rush forward. The lock comes off Ovan’s arm and the trailer ends.

Impressions:

In the shot they showed of Online Jack, it showed the kid who is Sakaki although they haven’t said. On the monitor next to him is a shot of the Guild Home of Moon Tree. Guess that’s not really a question or theory I’m posing, just something that was kind of cool and wanted to point out.

One thing I’m really confused about is the small section in the trailer where they showed someone who looked like Phyllo. Although it could have been another beat they showed it while showing clips of Phyllo from the anime and I don’t think they would make this big of a deal if it was just a random beat player. Phyllo is dead…supposedly. Now it could be a flashback I suppose, or it could be someone using Phyllo’s character. However the area it shows Haseo walking up to Phyllo in, I don’t’ recognize. I don’t remember it form Roots some I’m confused as to if it’s a flashback. Also they show an email from someone with a blackened silhouette that looks like Phyllo. Again maybe its from a random beast but doesn’t seem for a need to mystify it like that if it was. Maybe he staged his death, meh. I don’t really believe Phyllo is alive but I’m really curious to find out what that scene is about.

I’m pretty sure that it was Sakaki who was standing next to Atoli when she was on some floating thing. When they showed the shot of the big explosion that caused people to disappear, Atoli was somewhere and someone was standing next to her. We see a shot later of Sakai shooting out his hand and I think that he did this and then the thing came out of Atoli. So what exactly is up with that? Does he have Atoli under control somehow?

Also about the blast itself. We see it going though Mac Anu, Moon Tree Guild Home Area, Kestrel Guild Area. Once it hits everyone they turn blue and disappear, so what exactly happens? Also, Kuhn, Pai, Yata, and Zelkova are different. They have a gold ring appear around them and move up and down before they disappear, so does something different happen to them? And why the hell, if it was something different then most people, did it happen to Zelkova too?

What exactly happens to Endrance? We see Endrance disappearing before Haseo, saying something to him and I think I heard the translation is Endrance telling Haseo he will give him his power. So is the deal with Endrance what caused Skeith to become super charged? And what exactly does happen to Endrance after he disappears in front of Haseo, is he gone for a long time or just very briefly?

Sakubo touches the water at the one Lost Grounds with the glowing tree. We see in the opening movie for vol. 2 that there is a statue of Aura incased in ice or something at the bottom. Sakubo seems to be talking to it, does she know its importance or why it is there? And why exactly is it there.

What’s the deal with Sirius? He was shown holding up someone with dozens of bodies lying around. For the most part he seemed like a non evil person. Then to add to the mystery, he is standing there with Balmung and Orca like they are working with him or something.

Why was Skeith (Haseo) fighting Gorre? Gorre didn’t seem to have AIDA stuff around it so does that mean that Haseo was directly fighting against Sakubo? Or does Sakubo not have control over Gorre yet? Either that or the eight epitaph titled people aren’t all necessarily on the same side.

Probably the biggest thing in this trailer is the different appearances of Orca and Balmung. Seeing as how they work with TriEdge it seems to be more of a thing that it’s not one thing or person controlling TriEdge but maybe the game itself of something. Or that Tri Edge is its own A.I. and not controlled by something else, same goes for the other two. I’ve said this in some other theory posts but I think that the Azure Knights are likely good guys trying to defeat AIDA. Ovan is involved with AIDA so that’s why they went after him. As they showed in Roots it was Ovan who killed Shino, not Tri Edge so there isn’t the whole question of “why did Tri Edge kill Shino if he’s only after AIDA”
