Haseo finds out from Yata that Atoli has disapeared into a Sign so he goes to investigate, and when finding her runs into Tri Edge.
Summary:
- Haseo gets an email from Yata about an emergency so he logs in and heads to Ravens home.
- We see Atoli teleport into the Lost Grounds with a Tri Edge Sign. We hear Ovan’s voice of what he said to her. He told Atoli that Tri Edge is the player Haseo is looking for. Ovan tells toil to go look for Tri Edge. It’ll be fine if she uses her ability to hear. He says that finding Tri Edge is something only she can do, once she does that Haseo will realize how valuable she is.
- Haseo talks with Yata and Yata says how they have always been investigating Atoli, she is another Epitaph User candidate that they found. They said they weren’t able to confirm it yet though. Haseo asks where Atoli is and Yata pulls up a screen.
- We see Atoli at the Lost Grounds in front of the sign. She walks up to the sign and it glows and when she touches it, it activates and starts to glow brighter and shake. Atoli is then teleported away into the sign. Yata tells Haseo that’s all they have. There is no record in the system of where she is, although still logged in. Yata tells Haseo to go with Pai and Kuhn to investigate the matter.
- After Haseo leaves Yata turns to the screen and says to think you would give me information. We hear Ovan’s voice ask if it was none of his business. Yata asks what Ovan wants and he just says that he wants Haseo to grow.
- Haseo goes to the lost grounds and the sign teleports him to a white room with some lockers, and we see Atoli trying to open one of them Haseo approaches her and Atoli yells for him to get back. She yells how she found this place with her power, and tells Haseo not to get involved. She says she will find Tri Edge herself. Haseo asks why she is looking for Tri Edge and she says it’s because she wants Haseo to look at her, to see and recognize her.
- All of a sudden Tri Edge appears from a blue light. Haseo ask what is he, a hacker, Epitaph user, AIDA? Tri Edge says nothing and Haseo says how he won’t let him get away and tells Tri Edge to give them back all of the lost ones, coma victims. Tri Edge pulls out his weapon and Haseo faces off against him.
- After supposedly beating it, Tri Edge seems all broken and corrupted with data. However it powers up its bracelet and pieces hit the floor all around it and it absorbs the data, fixing itself and recovering. He then charges at Haseo and everyone falls thought eh ground and they find themselves in a weird plane. Tri Edge powers up and transforms into a huge…”thing” Kuhn asks if that is an Avatar. Pai says in terms of data it’s very close and Haseo says he doesn’t care; he’s going to defeat him.
- After defeating and data draining the Azure Flame God that Tri Edge turned into, Tri Edge starts to disintegrate and disappear. Haseo is returned to where Atoli is and everyone looks around. They see Tri Edge standing there, with bits of him crumbling away and patches of his data malfunctioning. Haseo yells no, first Tri Edge has to tell him how to bring everyone back. Tri Edge disappears in a poof of data leaving Haseo there.
- Haseo stands there with Atoli, neither of them unsure of what to say and all of a sudden the lockers all open. There is a glow and Atoli walks towards it. Haseo yells for her to get away from there and black Aida hands reach out and slam into Atoli. They enter her PC body and black AIDA bubbles appear around her. Atoli screams in pain and AIDA explodes from her body, and she falls to the ground.
Impressions:
Ovan giving Yata information was intriguing. What he said about just wanting Haseo to grow up and get stronger was also said in Roots at the end, and I know there are some very important scenes revolving it in vol. 2. Basically he wants Haseo to get strong enough to defeat him, so he gave information to Yata which would be given to Haseo that would help him in that.
Atoli hearing things is defiantly interesting. Not only can she seemingly hear things, in the cases we saw it had to do with the Sign, but that’s in addition to her being an Epitaph user. There are times in some other trailers where she is holding her head screaming and this could be due to this power to be able to hear things, that she is hearing things others don’t and can’t take it. How exactly that ties in with a mirage I don’t know however. However Ovan seemed to know that she could do it, he knew not only that she was an epitaph user, because Yata did as well, or candidate I should say, but he knew about her hearing thing.
The bonus of Tri Edge being named Kite, or whatever you named him the first games was interesting. Not only was it just a small bonus, but it hints more at the fact that it is actually him. Him being named Kite makes it more likely that he is indeed the being/person from the first games. Not just a program made to look like him, but either Kite himself or data left over in the system of Kite’s character.
Atoli getting attacked by the AIDA certainly was an interesting end. I expected it to end with a cliffhanger so it’s not really as if I’m surprised or anything. Right now there isn’t really a clear definition of what happens when coming in contact with AIDA. I mean, when Pai was struck it kind of gained control of her Avatar and went berserk. Perhaps this will somehow cause Atoli’s Avatar to awaken and do something.
The Online Jack thing at the end was defiantly very interesting. If the boy, which I’m pretty sure is due to knowledge outside the game, is Sakaki then it shows that Sakaki knows about the phases or the Epitaph users in some way. He wrote all of them out, well, he only wrote half of Tarvos and they didn’t show if he wrote Corbentik, but that certainly was interesting seeing as how so far in the game they haven’t mentioned the name Innis, Fidechell, or Gorre.
in the “Epitaph of the Twilight”, Innis, one of the 8 phases of Morganna, is referred to as “The Mirage of Decieit”. it is most likely that Atoli has Innis as her Avatar.
