After facing off against Yowkow (screw you that’s what I’m calling her) he is forced to fight Kuhn in his next match and looses control of his Avatar.
Summary:
- There is a news story about a middle school girl falling into a coma while playing “The World’
- On new Online Jack the guy investigates a kid who has Doll Syndrome to find the kid alone in a room with lots of monitors going. The kid turns around and says Sakaki and we see all the monitors filled with the word AIDA.
- Haseo logs in and heads to Canards home. Gaspard and Silabus say how he was cool in the fight, and they are sorry for anything earlier. Haseo gets an email from Yata and he goes to talk with him. Yata says that now that his avatar has awoken there will be a time when Yata wills end him to fight and AIDA. Haseo says what he gets out of this, to not forget their promise and Yata says how he will help him find Tri Edge, and Yata shows Haseo a video of some adventurers going through a dungeon and being attacked by Tri Edge. He says any more information and Haseo will be updated, so Haseo agrees. Yata says that he will contact him when he will send him out.
- Haseo gets a message from Anteras, the guy who took notice of Haseo at the arena and helped train him and give him a few tips to succeed. Anteras says he wants to take him somewhere, and takes him to the home of a guild called Icolo, a guild whose requirement is to be an arena emperor.
- Anteras has a key and takes Haseo inside where we find out from Taihaku that Anteras was the founder of Icolo even though not in the guild now. Just then Yowkow (I don’t give a damn, no way in hell I’m calling her Alkaid) appears and asks who the hell Haseo is. We find out she is former Demon Place emperor, but she lost to Endrance. She leaves and Anteras says to Haseo how this is the state of Icolo, that it’s a mess and it’s not what he envisioned. He hoped that Haseo could become emperor and make things better.
- Haseo gets an email from Yata and heads out with Pai to investigate an AIDA area. While there he tells Haseo how important this is, that if he can’t control his avatar the power can flow back into him and he could go into a coma, that he has to be focused. They go though the area and fight a couple of AIDA, Haseo being able to use Skeith and defeat them. Near the end Pai says how the last AIDA is growing stronger, and mentions something about how the AIDA powers may be related to the strength of epitaph users, but they aren’t sure. To be on the safe side she will take care of last AIDA. They go to where the last AIDA is and there are a couple of players there who went through the dungeon. Pai sees an AIDA thing growing and yells at them to move, and jumps in the ay getting hit by the black bubbly stuff. Pai then kind of twitches and tells for Haseo to run. She is in pain and tells Haseo to get Kuhn; he has to data drained her. Pai screams in pain and Haseo is taken to the plane where avatar fights and Pai turns into Tarvos. She tells him to hurry and run, as she has no control of her avatar as it has been possessed by AIDA. Haseo says that Kuhn would never make it in time, and fights Tarvos himself. Haseo defeats Tarvos and saves Pai. When it looks like Pai isn’t going to wake up Haseo yell for her to wake up, and actually calls her Pai and not old hag.
- Later Haseo gets an email from Atoli saying to meet her. Haseo finds out that the officers of the Moon Tree Guild have summoned Pai and Haseo. They find out that the player they saved from AIDA was the guild master of Moon Tree and just wanted to thank them. Haseo hears from Pai after Sakaki kind of talks like he has authority that some say that Sakai basically runs the guild and Zarkosa, the official leader, is a figurehead. She says how its almost as if Moon Tree is broken into two factions, Zarkosa and Sakaki factions
- Haseo fights Matsu from Moon Tree in the next round of the tournament and wins. Sakaki watching says how he didn’t’ think Haseo would be this strong, its time to move pawns into motion.
- Haseo gets an email saying there is a new Tri Edge sign at one of the lost grounds. He heads there and before arriving we see Ovan standing there staring. A voice behind him asks if Ovan expects the criminal to return to the scene of the crime. Yata appears and talks with Ovan, Ovan asking what’s behind the wall with the sign. Yata says how there is nothing, graphics not able to be seen aren’t rendered. However Ovan says there feels like something, like this place is a prison. Yata says the question is what side is imprisoned one. Ovan says he will leave before the pursuer gets here and him and Yata teleport away.
- Haseo teleports in and finds Piros there who sent the email. He just says how this isn’t going to help anything, as there is not point in waiting here for hours for Tri Edge and heads back.
- Haseo fights in his next round in the arena up against Yowkow, the previous emperor. He isn’t able to defeat her, and is about to loose when he kind of goes crazy and summons Skeith even though it seems like he didn’t want to have to. He uses Skeith and defeats Yowkow. Yowkow recovers and says how he is just as much of a cheater as Endrance is and teleports out. Kuhn who is watching this with Pai says how Haseo doesn’t understand how terrifying Avatars can be, he will show him.
- Haseo hears another rumor about Tri Edge at the place where he saw the sign earlier. He goes there and find nothing but suddenly Sakaki and Atoli teleport in and Haseo hides. Sakaki asks Atoli if she hears anything from this and she says she does, but its different from “this”. He says eh sees, not to worry he has great faith in her ability. He asks her if there has been in a change in Haseo and she says no. Sakaki tells her to keep watching him.
- Haseo fights his next arena fight which is up against Kuhn, Pai, and Anteras. He eventually gets to the point where he is all emo about them getting in his way and he summons Skeith. Kuhn yells how its not right to do whatever he has to do to win, that that its not the right way to do things, and Kuhn summons Magus. Skeith defeats Magus.
- During the fight, eventually Haseo gets to the point where he is winning however he looses himself in the fight. Haseo finds himself appearing in the plane, watching Skeith fight and Skeith goes berserk and beats the crap out of Magus, completely going crazy, stabbing it and destroying it. Haseo yells at Skeith to stop, that this isn’t what he wanted. Kuhn appears by him and asks if this is what he intended. He says Avatars amplify the power of the dark sides of their hears, and that is not something easily overcome. Haseo returns to watching Skeith kill magus, Kuhn in control of Magus and Skeith defeats him and data drains Kuhn/Magus as Haseo yells fro him to stop.
Impressions:
I thought it was really cool how Haseo recognized Taihaku. Although he doesn’t know from where, that’s understandable because at the time he was all emo and crazy. At least it showed that they didn’t completely throw out all of the minor things in Roots that may have connected things. I just wonder if they will expand on that more, because Taihaku took real notice of Haseo and should recognize him clearly I would think.
Atoli hearing things was really interesting I thought. It seems as if Sakai knows something about her powers. It is very likely that her hearing things has to do with her being an epitaph user, however I think that it is something unique to her because Haseo didn’t hear anything the one time that Atoli did when they were together. I just wonder what exactly it means. If she is like hearing AIDA or something.
I have mixed feelings about the introduction of Yowkow (Alkaid) (btw, I will NEVER call her Alkaid, in fact this is the last time I put her English translated name in parenthesis) First off I love Yowkow, even without playing the game she is one of my favorite characters. I mean hell, she wasn’t even in Roots or an epitaph user yet just from the little I knew about her despite that she became a favorite. However her voice SUCKS. Usually I’m a bit biased against the English voices jut because I heard the Japanese ones first. However I heard very little of Yowkow, if any at all of her Japanese voice but still think her voice sucks, so this isn’t coming from comparing them. Still, I hope for maybe her voice to be better when they introduce her not beings o gruff. I still hope that her and Haseo end up together in the end.
There was a really big mystery that they showed in one of the news articles outside of the game. They mentioned about a middle school girl going into a coma while playing “The World’ although they said how there is no proof of a connection it really had me wondering. It’s obviously not Shino because she is like 20 and wouldn’t be a middle school student. Plus I think it was a recent news update so it happened at a completely other time. I’m really confused as to anyone it could be, the only person that fits it that we have really met so far would be Bordeaux. A guide book/fanbook said that she was 14 so her age fits. And the news update did come after she was attacked by Skeith in the arena. Perhaps even though she woke up in game like Kuhn or Pai said, she could have gone into a coma in real life from it. Either that or its just a random coma victim from anomalies in the game like random AIDA or Tri Edge dealings.
The Online Jack segment was another really interesting out of normal game bit. Ok, from a fan book/guide book they said the name and age of Sakaki in real life. He is a ten year old with the same name as the kid they visited in Online Jack. That means the freaky kid who said Sakaki was Sakaki. However the whole bit with the dozens or so monitors that said AIDA was really interesting. Its showed how much Sakaki was into the secrets of the world already. Not to mention just the fact that this character in the game that talks of morals and stuff is a ten year old.
Haha, they screwed up. Ok, although its nothing big I noticed a mistake, or what is likely a mistake, that the translators made. They changed the name of the class from Multi Weapon to Adept rogue. However there was a thread on one of the message boards that said something like “Job of a Multi-Weapon” However inside the actual post in all the threads they never once used that term and called it the translated/changed Adept Rogue.
