Impressions:Â
One thing that I’m pleasantly surprised with is that it is very serious. I had thought that there would be a lot more comedy, because I can easily see some fairly clichéd moments of comedy coming out of an age switch like that. However, I think it makes the show much much more interesting to do without it, and to keep its focus on the serious part of it. I mean, it’s a reasonable response to for a child who still has the mind of a child to freak out about all of a sudden having a grown up body. You don’t see things like that very often which is what makes this show truly great I think, I have hardly seen anyone who has said this show is bad, as for the rest of this season there are mixed messages, this is defiantly one of the better ones I think because of its uniqueness in how serious of focus it has.
I thought that they showed the emotions in this episode really well. Not just about Karada’s reaction to the change, but how she was tearfully explaining why she made the wish. About how she wanted to set her brother free because she has always been a burden on him, I can’t help thinking they will end with something like Hiro saying how she isn’t a burden or something like that, but it was a very sophisticated reason for wanting to grow up for her which I liked.
I defiantly felt sorry for Hiro in this episode. Although I’m not sure how it will end with him and Shouko, and whether there will be any change in Hiro and Karada’s relationship, I hope that there is. The whole point of this body transfer thing seems to be that in the end they will realize something. I’m really interested in finding out how this plays out. It really amazed me how much Hiro’s looks changed from the time he started looking after Karada. He used to be clean shaven with short hair and seemed to have a more positive outlook, but now he has some stubble, his hair is a mess, and he seemed a tad depressed. Although its hard to say what this is from, having to take care of Karada or something to do with Shouko which would have been at the same time. Anyways, because of this it’s hard to say if indeed Karada is a burden on him or not, and what will happen in the end, if they change back how things will go from there.
Karada = train wreck in this episode. I wanna see the reuniting!
