Yuuichi fully remembers what happened in the past regarding Ayu and deals with Nayuki’s feelings once Akiko is involved in an accident.

Summary:

• Yuuichi returns home and just blows off Nayuki, heading to his room. He sees the hair band and remembers back to his past and what happened. Him and Ayu were playing by the big tree that used to be where Yuuichi just came from. Ayu then fell from the tree and Yuuichi ran over yelling no.
• The next morning, Nayuki wakes up to find a note in Yuuichi’s room that he has gone to the forest. Nayuki goes as well and finds Yuichi sitting on the tree stump.
• Yuichi tells Nayuki of what happened, how this tree was his and Ayu’s ”school” and she fell and supposedly died. He mentions the doll she had, and says how they buried the doll that he said granted wishes. He says he needs to find it so he can fully remember Ayu. Him, Nayuki, and Kaori and Yuuichi’s other friend from school all dig for it and eventually find it.
• Nayuki and Yuuichi head home and eventually Yuuichi gets a call that Akiko was involved in an accident, as we saw earlier her being hit by a car. Thee two of them go to the hospital and they are informed how Akiko is in critical condition, she may recover but they don’t know if she will wake up.
• Nayuki is talking with Yuuichi, saying how if her mom dies she will be all alone. Yuuichi says he is here but she says how he isn’t. She mentions how she was relieved deep down when she found out Ayu was gone because the only person in Yuuichi’s eyes was her.
• The next day, Yuuichi is reflecting upon Nayuki’s feelings, saying how he hadn’t realized them. He goes home and takes the doll that Nayuki fixed up for him and heads to the stump in the forest. He talks to the doll addressing Ayu asking what he should do.
• Ayu then appears before him and says that if he truly wishes for it, Akiko will get better if his feelings are genuine, the doll will grant the wish. He says how the doll was for her and so Ayu says her final wish is for Yuuichi to forget about her. Ayu kisses him on the forehead and flies away, disappearing leaving Yuuichi there and we see Akiko recovering in the hospital.

Impressions:

The final scene of this episode was just so sad I thought. I mean after we finally find out what happened to Ayu, we get the real goodbye scene between them. It wasn’t so much the goodbye scene, as they had already established that she “died” before but it was that Ayu’s last wish was for him to forget about her. That part, the asking Yuuichi to forget her, was very sad I though, because all in all it probably was for Yuuichi’s benefit Ayu thought, as forgetting her would allow him to get on with his life but its still kind of devastating.

This episode was also extremely big on Nayuki’s feelings. We get Nayuki actually confessing that basically she has feelings for Yuuichi by telling him how deep down she was glad that Ayu was gone because she was the only person in Yuuichi’s eyes. Kaori even mentioned to Yuuichi how fondly Nayuki talked of him during the entire time he was gone, so it really shows how fixated she was on him. As the preview for the next episode says, it seems how the focus will be entirely on Nayuki’s feelings, as Ayu is “supposedly” out of the picture.

Spoilers:

Knowing what happens in the next episode, this episode is really rather conflicting and confusing. First off, they really point to Ayu dieing, as in poof dead no more. Although she comes back in the next episode and was apparently in a comma all along. There is also just generally the whole goodbye theme, where she basically says goodbye forever but again, she comes back next episode. One thing I am unsure of though, and I’m not even sure if they will say it in the final episode, is when Ayu comes back if she remembers the time she spent as a ghost-thing. My guess from now would be she did, because otherwise first meeting him after waking up would be a big shock as she hadn’t seen him for seven years, and I don’t remember it being a big deal in that sense.
