Mai and Yuuichi decide to finish off the monsters at the school once and for all after taking Sayuri to the hospital; there at the school while Mai fights, Yuuichi realizes something about his past involving Mai.

Summary:
- Mai and Yuuichi are in the hospital after taking Sayuri there. Yuuichi just tells Mai how everything will be alright. The next day we see Mai at school and Yuuichi takes her off somewhere as she seems to be still distressed about Sayuri, although we see Sayuri who is mostly fine in the hospital. Mai tells Yuuichi how she wants to end it tonight, the monster.
- That night, Yuuichi heads out to the school and meets with Mai. Eventually the monster shows up and as Mia runs off to fight it, Yuuichi sees the image of a young girl with long hair wearing fake bunny ears. Mai and Yuuichi fight against the monster and Yuuichi keeps seeing a flashback of that girl in meadow.
- Eventually Mai runs off for the monster and Yuuichi goes outside to be attacked by it. Mai jumps from the roof and defeats the monster, saying how she had to jump that far to get a powerful enough strike. As Yuuichi promised since hey dealt with the monster, he goes off to buy some food while Mai stays at the school
- At the store Yuuichi remembers something however, about his past he played with a young girl, the one shown earlier, and thinks that girl was Mai. A girl who wished the lies could be turned into reality, the lies about a monster chasing her because she wanted someone to play with to fight them.
- Yuuichi finally gets it and runs off to the school to find Mai furiously attacking air, each strike in the air cutting herself. Yuuichi stops Mai saying how there were never any monsters, that she was creating them, her power. He tells her how they met before and he was the boy. He’s come back.
- Mai walks forward a bit thanking him for keeping his promise and coming back, telling her she isn’t alone. However from thinking about all she has done, she takes her sword to her chest and is about to stab herself when Sayuri who had recovered in the hospital runs up hugging her, stopping her saying she always does things by herself, and to not to do this.
- The next day everything is fine and Yuuichi is sitting with Shiori telling her about the ball. When Yuuichi mentions how Shiori can see him in a tuxedo next year she kind of gets sad and says that he can she guesses.
- Later in school, someone comes up to Yuuichi and asks if he is the one who is always with Shiori, and asks him if he knows of her illness.
Impressions:
Although this episode pretty much concludes the Mai arc, it sell surprises me how big of a part they give to Mai, they spanned her story over quite a bit, with Yuuichi dealing with her. Not only was it the only (apparent) supernatural thing going on at the time, but even with other things going around Yuuichi would always go out at night with Mai. Although I never really thought of Mai as a real choice in the anime for Yuuichi to end up with, she did get a rather large part.
Even though this episode was mostly focused on Mai, at the end we defiantly got the feeling of the next episode or two describing what was up with Shiori. They hadn’t really touched on the subject that Shiori’s sister wouldn’t even acknowledged her so that is obviously going to be touched on for the next episode, if not because of the preview just the foreshadowing of someone confronting Yuuichi about it.
I thought the whole part about Yuuichi saying that Shiori might not have “enough” to wear a dress was pretty funny. Especially because it took her a while before realizing what he meant. Although again not really about the main focus of this episode, still a funny bit at the end with Shiori
Spoilers:
We get more supernatural occurrences in this episode. Although we have had the continuing appearance of the monsters, we got in this episode that they were caused by Mai, which is a little bit more unusual. It defiantly seems like a foreshadowing to the supernatural aspects of Makoto’s and Ayu’s story
Although they made it a bit more apparent of a mystery at the end of this episode, Shiori’s illness was shown again. Although they didn’t say it in the actual episode, but you could get the hints that led to her illness being fatal from the way she talked about “next year”, because she “thought” that shoe wouldn’t be able to live that long.
Did I sense some yuri scene or just service?
Not really a yuri scene, just showing how close of friends Mai and Sayuri are.
