Yuuichi and Mai go to the ball at school, when a sudden monster attack causes Mai to have to fight them off, destroying a lot of glass and running the ball. Yuuichi and Sayuri both fight for Mai so she isn’t kicked out of school.

Summary:
- Yuuichi, Mai, and Sayuri are all getting ready for the ball. Mai looks at herself I her dress and says to Sayuri how she doesn’t fit like this but Sayuri begs her to go on and she does.
- The ball starts and Mai and Yuuichi dance, amazing everyone with their dance skills. However suddenly some of the glasses start to break, and all the overhead lights break and the ballroom goes dark. Mai and Yuuichi both seem to know it’s the monsters, Yuuichi asking why know. The chandelier falls and everyone rushes out of the room. Mai and Yuuichi stay, Mai running to get her sword while Yuuichi tends to Sayuri who was hurt.
- Mai furiously fights off the monsters, and kind of looses it, slashing around after the monster is gone. The next day, Mai is being punished for the incident, just taking the abuse not saying a word back. She gets expelled and Yuuichi who was listening in tries to defend her, but stops realizing any action wouldn’t really help Mai. Sayuri however talks to the student president, intent on helping Mai.
- Yuuichi is walking home and Sayuri approaches him saying she is talking care of the deal with Mai. She then mentions how Mai’s birthday is coming up so the two of them go out shopping together for a present for Mai.
- The next day at school Yuuichi sees that Sayuri has joined the student council; we previously saw her being asked but refusing. Yuuichi guesses how she did this to save Mai. Yuuichi talks with Mai later in the day and they decide to give Mai her present tonight.
- Yuuichi goes to the school that night to meet up with Sayuri to give Mai her present. He goes into the school and meets up with Mai. Suddenly they feel the presence of a monster but they say how it isn’t heading for them. They investigate to find the stuffed animal Sayuri was giving Mai, and someone under it with a pool of blood.
Impressions:
The whole monster thing seems to defiantly be escalading. Seeing how this is only a 13 episode series, excluding Kazahana, the whole monster thing seems like it will conclude in the next episode, or the very beginning of eight, as it will not only conclude that, but the whole Mai arc all together so they can focus on Ayu and Makoto which still both have open arcs, although Makoto’s is more open, Ayu’s is more important they just haven’t opened up the mystery enough yet.
On a lighter note, and away from the whole Mai subject I thought it was hilarious how Ayu head butted Yuuichi so suddenly from behind. It wasn’t like just running into him either, she jumped and speared him. Kind of random but funny none the less.
Spoilers:
One thing I don’t quite remember which has me a bit, is if Mai is creating the monsters herself why would they appear at the ball? I would think that at times of peace when she is happy they don’t’ appear. I could be forgetting the exact reason of why they are appearing, and I know that Mai and Yuuichi have some sort of past but unsure of why the monsters appeared in the middle of the ball, as they normally only do at night.
