Yuuichi tries to defend Mai after she is blamed for the broken glass, but nothing much comes from it as Mai doesn’t seem to mind. Meanwhile, Makoto is feeling lonely so she tries to follow Yuuichi wherever he goes.

Summary:

• Mai is taken in for questioning about he broken glass. Yuuichi tries to defend her but Sayuri says it won’t do any good, as she won’t deny or confirm she did anything, she just remains silent.
• After school, Yuuichi tells Nayuki he will go out to lunch with her. However he gets caught up talking with Shiori who thanks him for saving him from the dog. The two of them talk for awhile, Yuuichi ending up buying her some ice cream. He then remembers Nayuki and runs home finding her there sulking about him forgetting her. To make her happy he agrees that by her request, he will go shopping with her tomorrow.
• Makoto says she wants to go with them and he eventually says fine. That night, Yuuichi heads out again to meet with Mai. Before going Makoto yells at him for eating without her and they argue. At school, while eating with Mai Makoto tries to scare them by pretending to be a ghost. Mai just bonks her on the head with her sword and Yuuichi scolds her saying it’s her fault, she tried to surprise them. When the night watchman appears they run off in the ghost costume so he doesn’t recognize them.
• The next morning, Makoto is fast asleep so Yuuichi and Nayuki go out shopping together. They see a cat which Nayuki thinks is cute but Yuuichi remembers she is allergic and warns her again petting it, much to Nayuki’s surprise he remembered.
• Along the way they find Makoto who tried to do some shopping of her own, saying she is an adult. She yells at Yuuichi for leaving without her but he just says she was fast asleep. Makoto keeps saying how she is an expert shopper so Yuuichi sends her to buy some erotic books. She doesn’t know what that is so she goes to buy them, asking the cleric and yelling out where the erotic books are, much to Yuuichi’s amusement.
• When they get home, Makoto tries to get back at Yuuichi, playing pranks an on him but isn’t able to do much. The next day Yuuichi wake sup to find Ayu eating breakfast, Akiko saying she met her while taking the trash out and invited her to breakfast. After breakfast, they head to school and Nayuki and Ayu notice Makoto is following them.
• Eventually Yuuichi goes out to take Makoto back and along the way they meet the cat. Makoto says how it must be so lonely, just like her. She is home alone by herself every day because Akiko has work and they have school. Yuuichi says they can take the cat in, Akiko wouldn’t mind and as long as Nayuki can keep herself together it will be fine. Makoto says no, a stay cat should remain stray because it will get used to a comfortable life and then get abandoned. She attempts to kill the cat saying how it’s better off for the cat but Yuuichi slaps her and the cat gets away safely. Makoto just calls Yuuichi an idiot and runs off. When returning from school, Yuuichi finds that Makoto is gone.

Impressions:

I thought the whole part with Makoto trying to buy erotic books was one of the best parts about this whole episode. Dismissing the fact I’ve watched this before, I still could kind of gather that that was going to happen, just from the way Yuuichi told her, but I still found it hilarious when it happened, the way she kept shouting it out in the store.

The part where Makoto said that a stray cat should remained stray was interesting. Just the way she said it it seems like it has some impact, like it’s very important she feels that way. Even without knowing what she means by that, it still seems like it was an important enough line the way she said it.

I also thought it was it was funny how Shiori wanted ice cream during the winter. Especially since right after she said it and Yuuichi questioned her about it a cold wind blew. Although not much, not some super hilarious comedy bit, I thought it was rather funny.

One thing about this episode that caused me to remember about the first time I watched it was about Makoto. Her line about a stray cat should remain stray refers to her exactly. She said how if a stray is brought in it will get used to the comfortable living, the warm bed, and good food, and then when it is abandoned it will feel lonely and bad. This is exactly what happened to her. That’s why she hates Yuuichi because he brought her in as a fox, but then when he left the town she had to return to the wild after getting used to the comfortable lifestyle.

They still have yet to get to Shiori’s part, although they gave her a small part where she was with Yuuichi in this one. She did mention how she wanted drama and so on, talking about her life like that which relates to her “chronic” illness that can be cured by willpower. They did kind of question it when Yuuichi said it didn’t’ seem like she had a cold, but they didn’t focus on that anomaly in her behavior.

Also, this episode gave me another revelation about Mai. I’ve only seen this show once before, and it was a long time ago, so I had forgotten about this until now but it’s about the whole deal with Mai creating the monsters. It was interesting to hear Mai saying how recently the monsters have been stirring more then usual, because she creates them and they don’t’ really exist so why are they stirring now? Recently Yuuichi came back from being gone so is his presence causing Mai to create the monsters? Because of the history that they had together?
