I’m a bit conflicted about the end of this summer season and the start of the fall one. I’m looking forward to a lot of fairly interesting shows that are coming up, but for the first time I’m experiencing the end of half-year long series that I have been watching on a one episode a week basis, as they are the new ones airing. Not long ago before I was blogging, I NEVER watched a series that was still airing. Whenever I was looking for a new anime to watch I wouldn’t consider the ones that were airing. However when I started blogging I saw how interesting the shows were that others were blogging hat were currently airing, so I eventually took them on.
I started at about the sprign season, although I blogged and watched soem winter season shows such as Kashimashi and Fate/Stay Night, I didnt’ watch them at the beginning of winter, so I was only with them for about a season out of the year. When the end of the sprign season came, sure there was a few shows that ended, but only shows that I had been watched for one-fourth of the year. I missed them and “some” were great shows but they don’t hodl as big of a connection as the shows endign now do.
Now that the summer season is ending, I’m finding myself struck with the ends to shows that I have been watching for half a year, which is a bit new to me. I had watched shwos this long before, but it took me about a week to finsih them off on average, soemtiems a wekeend. eign with these shows for half a year really gives them a connection and now that they are all ending, and at roughlyt he same time, it is a bit depressing.
Oh well, hopefully the fall season will make up for it but just wanted to post that, anyone else have similar feelings about the end to a shwo you’ve watched for this long?
I don’t know but my attention span is like tiny… I usually have less trouble when I watch stuff thats being aired because then I can like see a bit every week. Like, right now I am trying to watch a bunch of older stuff I haven’t seen yet and I am having a hard time watching to the end before moving on to the beginning of another series. Not to mention even though I am so behind I still have soo many shows I can’t wait to watch in the summer season… omg…*drools O_O
So anyways the point is that I think its easier to watch a bunch of shows weekly than all at once, (and its more exciting to wait in anticipation for the next ep).
I’m not saying its easier or harder at all. In fact, I’m praising the episode a week shows because of the connection it makes with me and as you said the excitment, its just that I get too connected and feel bad about them ending.
My top 3 picks for this Fall:
1. Death Note
2. D. Gray-man
3. Black Lagoon: Second Barrage
I agree.
Oh another thing for me was that since a bunch of shows this season were only 12 eps it seemed like short shows are harder to connect with or the characters just don’t get developed enough… atleast in some of them.
I totally understand this post. I’m a few days late, but hey, things are ended and this is Fall 2006 start week right? Anyway, I really understand where you are coming from, not from watching shows on a weekly basis but really taking my time with shows (usually). There are a ton of viewers out there who will marathon a half-year show in a day, and I just don’t understand it. Especially with deep shows, watching them quickly doesn’t always bring justice. One of my favs that ended in the past weeks was Ouran, which doesn’t necessarily need reflection upon each episode, but having characters in mind and wondering whats going to happen next ep, just builds that connection you speak of.
Well, cheers to the new season! I’ll be looking to check out the ones mentioned above and:
Hataraki Man
Sumomomo Momomo ~lol
Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto (yea copy&pasted that one)
